Travel-Valenti, definitely take a taxi or public transportation to the convention. Cashman may technically be on Las Vegas Blvd, but it is a VERY long walk. Cashman Center is a pretty decent place to hold a convention, but the big drawback is that it's not close to any hotel except one very dumpy scary place.

Just wondering for 2010...

Does the Anime Vegas Staff know if that Anime Vegas will return to the Renaissance Hotel or another hotel in 2010? (I've attended Anime Vegas last year and the Renaissance Hotel was very, very nice.) It also made it easier to attend late night events when it was held inside a hotel.

My understanding is that there's no hotel connected to the Cashman Center...

Holding it at the Cashman Center does...unfortunately makes it a bit harder for out of towners to attend this con due to it's site location. (Especially if they are cosplaying.)

I don't think Anime Vegas will ever be returning to the Renaissance Hotel. The staff of that hotel were not pleased the way things turned out that weekend. Hopefully, another hotel will be willing to host Anime Vegas in the future. XD

Oh no..that's just really too bad...The Renaissance Hotel was a nice hotel and it's one of the few hotels in the strip that didn't have a casino. (I remember that the casinos were an issue, especially for the under 18 crowd.)

Hopefully, Anime Vegas could find another hotel in the future that would be willing to host it.

Or maybe the Las Vegas Convention Center (which is right next door to the Renaissance.) That would be cool, too. But I understand that it costs ALOT more than the Cashman does.

It would be nice to have it at the LVCC but too expensive for a small con (who knows, maybe it'll move there in the future if there are more attendees). Mandalay Bay's convention center is pretty nice too but it'll probably be waaaaay too expensive as well. >:

Relative sizes

The question of "How does Anime Vegas compare to Anime Los Angeles" in size has seen a couple of different answers -- and they're both accurate.

At the Cashman Center in 2007, they had about 4000 people.
At the Renaissance in 2008, there was about 2000 or so -- it was a much smaller venue.

So "about the same size" or "about 60% bigger than Anime Los Angeles" are both correct, depending on which year you pick.

This year? I'm guessing they'll be bigger than Anime Los Angeles.

(I'll be there, so stop by our table and say hi, okay?)

As far as comparison to Anime Expo -- AX is 10 or 20 times as big, depending on which year you pick. It's very different.

In my opinion, the "two thousand to ten thousand"-person convention is an interesting middle range for anime conventions. Anime Vegas, Anime Los Angeles, and Phoenix Comicon are all in that mid range.

Mandalay Bay & the LVCC would definitely be too expensive for a small con.

Perhaps a better option is to pick hotels that are off the strip. (Hotels on the strip are usually more expensive than those off the strip.)

I agree! thanks for the clarification, Chaz! If anyone knows the size comparisons between ALA and AV, it would definitely be you!

Its not so much of a big issue of the cost..its being able to get into a hotel that allows the under 18 crowd to be in it without having a casino...and the issue with the previous hotel was that most of the kids didnt know how to act in a public place like the renaissance hotel..they should have been behaving a little better than they did..

The vegas area is much different than the LA area. Where cashman is located may be more accessible to locals, but not to out of town attendees. The majority of attendees are local, and only want the con at cashman.

If you are trying to compare us to AX, dont bother.

I didn't find it inaccessible, and I'm from out of town... what are you driving at here?

Especially now that there is a free shuttle from the Four Queens Hotel to the Cashman. I think Anime Vegas has gone out of their way to make it easy and accessible for everyone, local or not.

Wait, what? Last time I stayed at the Best Western across the street, because it was closest.

Is the Four Queens a non-smoking hotel, like the Marriotts are all now?
