Dead Space - Issac Cosplay

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of making an Issac suit costume. I'm already scouting out making the metal armor plates from scratch or even buying some metal pieces to use.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the base clothing. Maybe taking a jumpsuit and modifying it from there? Anyone have any ideas material wise?

I was actually thinking about doing Isaac myself. For the armor, I would suggest using Wonderflex. Cut and mold into the pieces needed and paint the armor the desired color you want. For the base clothing...hm...I'd suggest using denim or something cause it's got that weird texture to it. I don't know...maybe light chainmail in certain places like the arms and legs.

I 've been researchin this suit (was gonna make it for my dad for X-mas) I would use cordouroy & modified sweats in a coresponding color for the suit & as for the armor you could use that padding they use for camping http://www.foambymail.com/campad.html
and cut each plate out & then paint them (they would be flexible for movement)
as for the helmut & gun (pepakura files )Got the files if u need em

Found this while searching for another thread. My friend is doing this costume for Anime Weekend Atlanta, and I'll ask him how he made it. I haven't seen the finished version yet, but I bet it's going to look awesome.

Great, I'd love to see how he does the base clothing, especially the top. I'm not quite sure what materials to use or how to layer them.

may i ask what kinds of paints you're using to do the weathering effects on the usted armor plates? They look blazingly convincing!

I've actually never done anything like this before so I just made things up as I went along, I'm REALLY happy with how it all turned out.

I use 4 spray paints. A "Hammered Texture" Silver Metallic, Hammered Dark Grey Metallic, and a "Super Flat" (extra lack of shine or gloss) Brown and green. Layered Silver first, then mist areas of the dark grey in short bursts. Gives it a really spotty look. Then a lot of random misting with the brown and green. Sometimes I'll spray a lot on, and immediately wipe over it.

The rust is a different story. It's actually REAL rust. I went to a craft store and bought some "Iron paint" and some rusting solution. They're sold together, I forgot the brand they aren't hard to find. Basically the paint contains powered iron, so when you brush the solution over the paint the iron actually rusts.

Great work so far! I'll have to look into that rust stuff for weathering!
