Worbla/Wonderflex vs Foam for N7 armor?

I'm pretty new to cosplay with only a few costumes under my belt and very little experience when it comes to armor crafting. Most Shepard cosplays I've seen online are built from some sort of foam, but I feel like I would be a little more at ease working with materials like Wonderflex or Worbla. But since I haven't seen many Shepard displays made from that, I'm wondering if foam is really the way to go instead but I lack the experience to know why Wonderflex couldn't work just as well. Is anyone about to offer any insight? D: thank you!

I think one of the main reasons why people choose foam for Shepard cosplays is because the grey foam gives a very nice carbon fiber look like the N7 armor has.

That is an assumption though, I'm not entirely sure!

I used Wonderflex for my Fran cosplay. From my personal experience, I'm not entirely sure I want to reuse it FULLY for my Shepard armor. It was very, very uncomfortable- but it did look great for my photo ops! I just obtained some battle scars that weekend :3 So I think I am actually going to use a nice combo of foam and wonderflex this year.
Future Plans:
Commander Shepard N7 Armor
(I would LOVE to make it to Otakon 2015)
