Detangling a long wig

I need to ask if anyone has any advice on how to detangle extremely long wigs.

My lovely Grell wig somehow (even though I only took it out of the package twice) got incredibly tangled, and I'm feeling quite unhappy. I tried to comb it out with a wide-toothed comb, but it didn't really make any progress.

So...I really don't want to have to buy a new one, and I'd like to salvage it if I can. Help?

Separate the wig in to 4-6 sections as best you can, so you have smaller areas to work on. If you try to tackle it as one large project it will just become more tangled.

Start from the bottom of a section and veeery carefully use your fingers and the comb to work out any knots. Make sure you can run the comb through smoothly before moving further up the section. (I usually work in 5" increments) Once you've untangled one section braid it so it doesn't get re-tangled and move on to the next section. Repeat until done.

In the future when you store your wig be sure to braid it so the fibers can't rub and tangle up.

Thank you~

That'll be my project today, since I had to stay home from school. (Darn you braces! You put me in so much pain the day after!)

Something that helps is motions sheel oil or Mane and Tail (both you can get @ Sallys) Just spray in small sections and work your way up.
