Best hairspray/hair gel to use?

I'm cosplaying as Mom from Homestuck but I'm having a bit of trouble with the wig.. when I styled it a few weeks ago, it looked just fine, but whatever we were using to style it doesn't seem to have held that well. Heres the wig and a reference:

Or Here if the reference won't show up.
(The wig is also still WIP)

What kind of hair spray/gel do you recommend for styling wigs? I need something that can keep the two pieces of hair in the back sticking straight and neatly and not splitting like the wig is doing now. Something also strong enough for the swirl in her hair and just the general wig to keep it from all falling apart. Thanks a lot!

Upcoming cons:
Anime Los Angeles 2016
Costumes in Making:
Val'kyr (WoW)

Got 2 Be freeze spray is the one I used in an experiment against aquanet to see which one worked better on wigs and Got 2 be worked 10x better.
