try some wig conditioner. or you can have super patience and gently/slowly comb it out with water going from the bottom up in 5" sections. c:
It's how I untangle Reno's ponytail. XDDD
Oh Tressie tried untangling it. It broke her wig brush :/

geez. at that point, I'd shell out the money to get a new one and take really good care of it. D:

I hate to butt into your conversation, but if it's that bad, I'd say just use a regular FLAT hairbrush. I know it frizzes wigs out, but if you want to get the knots out of it, this works really well. Start from the bottom and work in small sections. Using this method was the ONLY way I could get the knots out of my Natalie XL. Still haven't gotten the knots out of my Showgirl. >.> Doubt I ever will.

About 5 years ago, I bought my first wig. It was a $200 waist-length wig that I had found locally when I was completely oblivious to what wigs should cost. Comparing it to what I currently own, it was probably worth about $50 tops.

I ended up cutting the wig too short, and then I melted a large section of fibre on the front. I should've just gone to the casino.

i bought a wig for my haydee cosplay off ebay the seller told me it was kanekalon when it arrived it said it was made out of synthetic fibers.
it took seven hours to brush all the tangles out of it then it took forever to add the extenstions which thank god wern't from that seller than when i wore the wig it tangled like no tomorrow at the con i have four girls try to help me detangle it and it wouldn't detangle so i had to throw the wig out when i got home after i took out the extensions.

^ Well, kanekalon IS a synthetic fibre... so... it's possible the seller did not lie. I'm guessing kanekelon can sustain damage, so it's also possible the wig was damaged.

I've always heard that you should NEVER buy a wig for cosplay from a halloween store, but I actually heard someone recommend this one wig, so I gave it a try.

It was cheap, tangled, and had a horrible feel to it that was a mix between chalky-waxy-sticky. Then the whole mesh on the inside was stretch out and disproportioned. It was terrible.

I learned my lesson, but I just wish that learning wouldn't have costed me $30, considering I'm practically broke... -__-;

Well this one was my fault, and I know better than to buy the cheap wigs. However it was only to a birthday party and I was cosplaying Hojo. I've bought wigs before and honestly all of my wigs I've gotten previously have been awesome... I just didn't want to spend near 40$ for a costume wig that I was only going to use once because I'm altering the labcoat anyway for Stein.

Case short- I bought a wig at the local party place, checked out the display and thought 'wow this is actually not bad at all!' -_- Apparently it either wasn't the same wig or they were false advertising... They assured me it was the same damn wig on the head that they showed me... Needless to say I got it home, a tangled mess, I tried to carefully tend to it, though it pulled out GLOBS of hair and I mean globs. Of course- I couldn't return it because no returns on wigs... That should have clued me off from the beginning. In any case the piece of crap is now thinning, and it was a pain in the butt to style.

needless to say I'm glad it was a wig for Hojo because he'd disshelved as it is, but I think next time... -_- Going back to Costumes on Haight (really good wig place) or ordering them from cosworx.

i bought a Bob for cosworx for Mello... and I cut the bangs a little to short and straight across, and then I tried to make the long pieces at the front more even with the rest and now they are too short- and flat, with no inward flip, and yeah :S

I also hate it when you buy a wig online and it comes in a completly different colour then on the computer screen. (For example mistaking blue for green>.<) My monitors a little strange though o--O

Buying Finnish wigs... I'll never do that again. They're all crap. Fortunately the internet exists.

I have a bad feeling that my Winry wig is going to be fail. Thankfully, I'm talking my mom into letting me buy a wig from Amphigory for my Izumi... but... She wont let me buy a good one for Winry. So I'm using a cheap wig I got from the Halloween store a year ago. She says it'll be fine to put in just a ponytail, but... I can hear the choir singing the doom song here. It's messy, crap-tastic and tangly. I'm working on it tons but the stupid choir still sings! DX If it fails as much as known wig facts tend to predict on cheap wigs, I'll be sure to come post here again. T_____T;;

I guess I should be thankful about Izumi at least though... My dad was trying to get me to pull off a mop piece and dye it black. O____O;;

OH. MY. GOD.

I made the mistake of buying a wig for a local party store a couple months ago.
It was a Godiva that went down to my feet, and it was $24. It's my first wig, and it was for my KOS-MOS next year.
PIECE OF CRAP. It became tangled as soon as it was taken out of the bag, and after hours of combing it out (It took 5 hours to comb out HALF of the stupid thing; I quit), I now have two 1-gallon Ziploc bags STUFFED with hair that had fallen out. Never, ever, ever buy a halloween store wig. You will want to die.
