Short hair =/= Lolita?

I really love the lolita fashion, and I'd really like to start buying/making some clothes, but the only thing stopping me is my hair. I have quite short hair (about 2 inches above my shoulders) and I was wondering if I would get "shunned" by the Lolita community if I wore Lolita clothes with my hair. If so, should I get a long wig, and what colour/style should I buy it in? Thanks for anything in advance!

I'm a short haired lolita myself! Mine's currently about your length actually, it's grown from when I last had it cut. It's totally acceptable to have short hair, I think it looks super cute. I also did a post on it for my blog actually: http://makelovely.wordpress.com/2009/05/15/shorthair/

Considering you'll be 'shunned' by most other people in society, why bother caring if your shunned by a SUB group of society?

I have 'medium' length hair that is generally not the most popular style for Lolita, but oh well.If someone (and I mean anyone regardless of Loli or not) has an issue with you, it's their problem shove your parasol up their dark places.

I have shorter hair than you, and I think I look cute.
It really depends on how you do it. I curl all mine inwards to make my head a little more circular than it really is, and then curl my bangs in. Done.
(Of course, I have really think hair, so this might not work for everyone)

Short haired lolitas are definitely cuter than "the norm" in my opinion. It's also something you don't see everyday. I say go for it. If you get shunned, then it's only those particular people that have something against you for being cuter than them, lmao.

My hair is very, very, very short. .___.;
Will that still be okay for lolita? I think I might need a wig...

For some styles, like over the top sweet and hime, you might want a wig. But for most lolita, short hair works just fine You basically just have to figure out what accessories work best for your hair. I find that giant giant bows don't look as good with short hair, but smaller things like headbands or floral combs look just fine. There's a lot of cute examples of lolitas with short hair over here: http://community.livejournal.com/egl/15255711.html

In my opinion, shorter haired lolita is cuter then the longer haired. Mostly because longer hair is so over-done compaired to the shorter haired. O:

My hair was waist length, then I cut it all off and gave it to locks of love (I do that once every four years or so) and that was about 9 months ago, it's too my shoulders now. I tend to curl it or put it in to half pigtails with bow clips. Or I wear smallers bow head bands. I think short hair looks cute with lolita.

For most styles, short hair is just fine. I have short hair, and I wear sweet, and with a curling iron and lots of hairspray, I can make it work! Since giant head-eating bows can look awkward with a short cut, pin curls or a small-barrel (3/4 or 1/2 inch) curling iron can work wonders with increasing volume on short hair. I have done both with great success. Or you can stick with smaller hair accessories like bow combs, side bows, flat headbands, and hats.

If you're really worried about it, invest in a good quality, medium length wig. If you take good care of it, it can last you for a long time if you only wear it with Lolita. If your hair color is easily matched, you could also try a half wig or extensions.

I have short hair too! If you have a small bob I think a cute bow or headband or those flat frilly headdresses should look fine~! If its a smaller pixie hair cut you have, some smaller hairbow pins or flower pins should work better. Better yet! If you look quite like a guy why not go for a more boyish style and top it with a mini top-hat!
