The puff thing under victorian dresses?
What is the name of the layer to make the puff out victorian dress?
I have a dress for a cosplay but it doesnt give out the puff that is needed. So where can I get a small, because I am short and the dress is pretty small itself, but cheap one in stores? |

you are probably talking about a petticoat.
Try here: http://inthestarlight.com/underthings.html There is a lot of info about petticoats in the EGL forums if you need help with anything else. |

In the starlights are way, WAY to short for anything victorian. You need a petticoat or hoopskirt one or two inches shorter then your dress.
A slip is a completely different article of clothing all together, as are panniers. AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS, do not use a halloween petticoat. You'll be lucky if they're 12" long let alone anywhere long enough for even a knee length skirt. This time of year, the only place you will be able to find a ankle length petticoat or hoopskirt would be a wedding shop, though they will not be very cheap. Try checking ebay, though I would be able to help a lot more if you had a reference of the dress/what it is supposed to look like so I or others can suggest the proper number of hoops or tulle thickness. |

Also, if the dress you have is not tailored to accommodate a petticoat or crinoline, then it doesn't matter. "Small" or not, a dress has to be tailored for underpinnings.

In most cases it is a crinoline or a petticoat. Other times it is a full hoop skirt that is worn underneath the skirt portion of the dress. However, if you are talking about the victorian dresses that only puff at the rear-end portion of the dress, that is a bustle and its cheaper to make one than buy and really easy.
