Persona 4 - Teddie help
Planned for Ohayocon '10.
![]() I'm trying to figure out what to do about the body shape. At first I thought of making it out of wire, padding that before adding fabric to the outside but I don't think I would be able to make it collapsable (my friend suggested I find a way to make it collapsable, for easy transport/getting in and out of). I want to have the entire body as a whole (legs/feet, arms/hands connected), with the head detachable so I can get in from the top. I figured on having clasps on the inside of the head that I can close (before slipping my arms through the sleeves) so it will stay in place. Any suggestions on how I can make the body collapsable? One of those circular, collapsable hampers comes to mind (actually thought of using one, but not sure how that would work out). |

Well if you just used wiring as a guideline you could still make it with that and just have the wiring at specific intervals so the suit sort of crumbles like a slinky (if that makes any sense)
Otherwise other cosplayers have just made the head the only solid part and made the rest of the outfit cloth/flimsy but if you want the entire thing to be somewhat solid/rounded that will trickier and harder to do.

That does make sense, thanks! I will have to test that out and see how it works
![]() Yeah, I was wanting to make it more solid (about down to my knees, or a little higher). The only parts that I won't have solid would be the arms and lower legs. |

I'm planning a Shadow Teddie cosplay, and I asked Pancake-mix for help. I'll forward you the PM that I got from her when I asked for her suggestions. Also, here is her Teddie gallery which has some pics of how she made the whole thing: http://www.cosplay.com/gallery/161084/

My advice would be to look into how mascot suits are made since that is, essentially, what Teddie is. Though making it both look how it should and easily transportable...that's going to be quite a challenge. You could always make it so you can put your luggage inside the costume?

I'd google how fursuits are made, you may get some ideas from them. A collapsible wire frame sounds nice, but with padding, probably not possible.
