Madoka Kaname Genderbend Bloomers

Hi, I need help. I have absolutely no idea how to go about making these bloomers.

Here is my reference picture (He's the boy in the front with pink hair):

And here's a real life picture of what I want them to look like:

I'm not too gifted at sewing, but I know this is a fairly easy project. How exactly do I go about making them as puffy as hers?

It just looks like there's a ton of fabric there, to me.
I'd suggest finding a pant pattern (Either a bloomer pattern, or a Pj pant pattern, something not tight fitting). And cut the largest size possible (one that's much bigger than your actual size) then put elastic at the waist and on the leg.
All that extra material should make them poof like crazy! (:

I agree with what Ichigo said, and want to add, after doing so, you could also add padding into it as well if you want it to not be able to be flattened (sitting down and getting back up will make it flatter in the back than the rest, and maybe the front too, this will help stop that). I'd look into it though first. The legs will have to be fairly tight to keep it in. Maybe if you can incorporate an inner leg that is tighter, or at least connects around the holes which would also stop it from comming out meaning you don't have to cut off circulation haha

Thanks so much! I'll definitely look into it. I'm just like totally overwhelmed at trying to sew something that seems so big by myself lol

The padding is a good idea. I was thinking that I would definitely need to add something to keep the shape.

In reply to my quoted reply..
No problem. I had a few cosplays I wanted to do that would have involved the same thing that never ended up happening..Figured it'd at least be nice to suggest lol

And since Ichigo isn't on, I'll just reply since I'm fairly sure she'd say the same..
Bloomers aren't as hard as they look. When you get your pattern, you literally just sew the seams up..They are simple straight seams that don't involve things that pants would like an opening (like boxers or most PJ's, or zipper like daywear. There are a total of 6 seams. The waist, the 2 leg openings, the outer most seams that fun the total length of the sides of the piece, and the center.

Right, I've looked up a ton of tutorials on them, I just always am a little nervous when it comes to making my own stuff. I'm more of a prop maker, rather than an actual clothes maker. xP But thank you! I will definitely go look at patterns soon, and hopefully I can make them so I can save some cash.
