Mask Help

I need to make a relatively simple mask before the beginning of July. I have an idea of how to make it but some extra advice would be nice. It's like this:

http://steampoweredgiraffe.com/comic/pages/page-8/

There's a strap around the head to keep it in place.

I'm currently making it out of cardboard, and I was thinking about making it two layers and place some of that black spandex stuff you can see through for the key-hole.

Please and thanks for any help.

That's an awesome mask btw.
Yeah, using two layers of cardboard and placing some black spandex stuff in the keyhole is a great idea. Maybe be careful with curving congruent cardboard, though, because it could end up looked wrinkled like this: http://teigland.smugmug.com/Other/Ot...5_qUkz3-XL.jpg
Maybe paper mache it a little and paint it to look like wood too.

Hope I helped! Good luck!
