My mom just bought me a Sony Cybershot DSC-WX9 this morning, which renders this thread irrelevant. Sorry for taking up the space.

As in the title, I'm trying to find a new camera. My old one broke a bit and now everything is a little yellow and kinda fuzzy all the time. The video quality is, and has always been utter sh!t and my mom agreed to get me a new one for my birthday.

So here's some specifics on what I'm looking for (to help narrow things down): [Order of importance]
- Point and shoot
- Price limit = 300$
- Main use is for taking pictures of cosplays in conventions with good lighting and crappy lighting and all those in between.
- Casual photoshoots to show off costumes and progress with my friends
- Decent battery life. I don't want to have to rush back to the hotel every night to recharge.
- I'd like it if the shutter was quick if not fast. My old camera took forever and I felt terrible for making the cosplayers stand in that uncomfortable pose for so long.
- Shooting decent videos at the cons
- Shooting decent-good videos for at home skits/vlogs (Good audio is preferable)
- Relatively lightweight, slim and sleek is preferable, but is secondary to the rest)
- Zoom is nice, but not always necessary (4-8x zoom is fine)
- Touch screens bother me, but I can handle them if it comes down to it

I've heard that Powershots are pretty good but there are so many that I'm baffled. Do megapixels matter? What is a good number for megapixels?

Congratulations on your new camera Kyuushin! For anyone else reading this, or if you change your mind:

Nope, megapixels don't matter, over 4mp and you're fine.

Size does matter, but in most cases you'll be fine with your smaller point and shoot.

A shorter zoom is *generally* better, but that's not always true.

The S90 is a good choice :P.
