Gurren Lagann -- Kamina's Glasses

I've been really wanting to put a Kamina cosplay together for future use (I'm not 100% sure when the next con I'm going to will be or anything... :c). I've been thinking a lot about it, but thought I would ask for advice here... What would be the best way to make Kamina's glasses in a way that they look simple yet stay on my face?

Oh, neat. Where can I find acrylic plastic, and is it expensive?

Also, can you wear them without holding them?

It is in bigger sheets. It's finding it in the right color at a small size that's the hard part. That, and cutting it.

You could try spirit gumming them to your nose, but they might be too heavy....

Kitsoru's right. But with here we have a store that they cut them smaller. Like I got a foot of the AP and could make..2-3 glasses with them for $5. You just have to look around.

Is it something you could find at, like, an art store? And how did you cut it?

No I don't believe so. I tried looking at michaels and hobby lobby for a material for them.
I used a dremel.

Acrylic plastic is also called plexiglass (rather, plexiglass is a brand of acrylic plastic, but you've probably heard that name more often). If you know what plexiglass is, you can imagine how thick/hard it'd be to cut.

It can be found sometimes at automotive or construction type stores, I would think, or specialty plastics stores (TAP in California, I think). You can order it online, but only in huge sheets. And even then, the most popular colors you're going to find are clear, maybe one or two translucent colors, opaque white, and opaque black. Kamina's color is gonna be hard to find.

You CAN however, paint it, I asked this relative question a little time back and got an answer here, so you can read through this thread a little more and see what you can get out of it.

What kind of tip did you use on your dremel to cut it? I have been having issues cutting through acrylic, tho I think it's just because I bought it a tad too thick.
