The Rate the Crossplay thread!
Yeah! I'm sorry if this has been done before, but I had the idea to start a thread where people can post pictures of their completed crossplays, and receive criticism on how to make the costume better, look more convincing as the opposite sex, etc, or to just applaud a good costume ^^
POSITIVE Criticism only! http://scarlet-rhapsody.com/travelin...003/084joe.jpg This is mine to start it off ^^; |

From what I can see in the pic, the makeup and all looks good. Only thing really can recommend is changing the posture - you are kinda slouching and hips are forward. With that kind of outfit I would expect chest to be forward and butt to be back to make curves.
Here is one of mine to review http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto....t=500 &page=7 |

Ooo *loves Slayers* Maybe a less femine pose as Zelgadis isn't the most bishie of the crew. Even if it feels less relaxed, shoulders higher.

Unless you're doing a specific pose from a peice of character art or common action, f2m crossplayers should try to keep their feet about shoulder's width apart. Men also tend to be akward about touching their face, as it's a very disney heroine suort of thing to do and will often only do it with fingertips. Men also have a tendancy to look blankly ahead or down. looking up gives the eyes a more wide open, girlish, innocent look.
m2f crossplayers need to watch out for posture. women often keep their feet together hand have walking with a back stright ground into their skulls from an early age, even female characters who are supposed to be slackers/boyish will need to maintain better posture than the average male, just for belivability of character. And remember to smile! Smile! Smile in all your pictures, be it a grin or a coy smirk or a belittling sneer. Smile!! I'm waiting for pics from Animefest to start popping up so I can get pics of my crossplay with wig... so no posted images yet.

I'll post a picture here after nekocon if the thread is still here
I have good ones planned for that, all i've done yet is Rei and it didn't come out good, it looked nice when it was right, but I take bad pictures from being tired I suppose or wearing the wig backwards or it poking you in the eye a million times ... in the future I'll be prepared ![]() Agrias: Don't worry, that looks really good ^_^ Kaede: I saw you at Otakon and you looked cool but I dunno you so I didn't say hi |

Glad I already have a male stance, and male mannerisms just normally, lol ^_^ I don't have any pictures, but I have a long desciption on one of my characters I plan for A-kon 15. For whoever did post pictures, I think they are really great! I really liked your costume, Agrias.

To Kaede, great crossplay ^_^ But for some reason, your eyes make you appear female.... maybe darken and make the eyebrows more pronounced?
To Hikaru-chan - I likey ^^ Love the skin coloring and detail on the face, plus makes for a convincing crossplay as well. |

Agrias - you look like a girl, who is slouching. ^^ Mom says: Stand up straight!!
Hikaruchan - Awesome Zelgadis! I wouldn't know your true gender looking at that pic! Kaede - Excellent Kyo but there's something about it that still pegs as "girl", I think around the eyes? Hard to put my finger on it.... I've got too many pics, so I'll only post a few links... (As to which character, *sigh* I am so predictable ^^ ) http://www.dragonsgate.net/pub/richa...ay/6IMG025.jpg http://www.dragonsgate.net/karisusam...MyNightVan.jpg http://www.dragonsgate.net/cosplay/A...turb-600_2.jpg http://www.dragonsgate.net/cosplay/A...11EscaYaoi.jpg

http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=31149 http://nuriko.virtualave.net/cosplay...-fountain2.jpg Ehm. Please note the character isn't supposed to look very male and has girly hips, but I think I got the androgyny look down. I look nothing like this normally. o_O I wanna do more pretty girl-boys.

Michi - That's a great Kuja, Michi. I think you pulled him off completely. I thought he was actually a girl until it said differently in the game ^_^'
And I still apologize for not having any pictures up..camera-shy..

Eh...this was my first attempt at binding, so be kind. ^^;
Reference picture - http://lyn.50megs.com/die-filth.jpg Cosplay pics - http://www.fansview.com/2003/otakon/0809b386.jpg http://www.pbase.com/image/20531129 http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto....t=500 &page=1 http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto....t=500 &page=1 Not very good pictures though, unfortunantly. ^^;; And a comment about Kaede's costume. She's cosplaying Kyo and like most J-Rockers, he tends to wear quite a bit of make-up. Also the pose is normal for him. Most (but definently not all!) J-Rockers have at least some of a feminine look to them. |
