I'm a beginner, and the only camera I had broke. I was wondering what a good camera would be for a beginner. Someone help please?

#1 Do you want a point-and-shoot camera, or an SLR camera with more control and changable lenses?
#2 How much are you willing to spend?
#3 What type of photos do you want to take?
#4 Do you want this camera to just take normal photos, or do you want to learn more about photography?

I have a similar question as well. I currently use a digital rebel xt, but find it terrible in low light situations. I'm looking for another canon under 1000 with decent ISO settings and not full frame. As this is only my first camera, I am looking to upgrade to something like the Rebel T2i that was released recently. Would that be a good choice?
