Anime Con-esque Outfits?
I'm trying to put together one of those outfits that some people wear at cons, that aren't character costumes, with cat ears or something? I really don't know what they look like. Can anyone tell me what one of those outfits would include? I hope ya'll know what I'm talking about..

not really sure what you are talking about, but you can add cat ears and tails to just about anything so long as there is a way to secure them. or are you talking about mascot costumes?

I think I know what you mean; I like to refer to that as Otaku fashion. A Genki hat is a must, and if you're a girl you can wear leg warmers or something. But you can pretty much wear whatever like.

I know exactly what you mean! "Otaku fashion", as MemoryOfAlessa said, is a perfect name for it. It's pretty much whatever you feel like wearing.
I see a lot of... bright colors gloves fishnet wigs and/or hair falls cat ears and tails corsets goggles boots genki hats mini top hats masks Most of this stuff can actually be purchased at the con or hot topic.

Lots of beads and bobbles! XD
There's a lot of different styles of it there seems to be a more goth spin, a kind of casual style, some more lolita-ish, and sweet styles. Really what I would do is browse the internet looking at Harajuku fashion and what elements you like best. Maybe even check cos.com and see what others have tried.

Have you had a look in the J-Pop/J-Rock forum? I think they might have alot of the kind of stuff you're looking for.

Harajuku is a place, not a style, and it's just as popular for actual cosplay as it is for unique fashion, so that's a ridiculous misnomer.

I'd say 90% of the general non-cosplay con-wear I've seen is just people throwing on whatever crazy stuff is in their closet, and putting on whatever cat ears or hat they bought at the con. As far as Japanese street fashion goes, if that is what you're going for, you're going to have to do some research and be a little more specific before anyone can help you. Gyaru, lolita, decora, visual-kei, and mori-girl are just a few I can think of off of the top of my head.

Things like cat ears/tails and animal ear hats are popular.
Lots of Japanese styles are commonly used also, such as Lolita or Decora. Anything that seems like very anime-esque is good, I dont know how to describe it.. things like the kinds of skirts that you see in anime and stuff like that. Erm.. everyone else has better ideas than me. Maybe you could come up with a colour scheme, anything is good ^^
