Luka Megurine Cosplay

Hey Everyone!
I'm going to be cosplaying Luka in the near future and there are a few things I'm unsure of. One would be the type of fabric to use in constructing the main pieces of clothing. The image her fans have of her is more of the older sister/dominating type and in a lot of fanart/fanvids she's depicted as a hard ass or the bad guy. Her creator on the other hand had the idea of flowing sounds and jazz music when he created her. He even mentions how her clothing had a light flowing feeling about it that other vocaloids had not. If I go off the fanbase's image I feel I should use a pleather/pvc fabric, but if I'm going off the creators I think more of a light fabric (not really sure what I'd use) would be the way to go. I can't make up my mind and my friends have been of no help. So if you guys could help me find a bit more direction with my fabric choice that'd be wonderful.

I would also like any advice on using LED's or a type of lighted wire to make the blue areas on her costume glow and for the soundboard on her sleeve. I've never worked with circuitry before and I have no idea where to begin. Again thank you so much for any help you can provide. >.<

I've never noticed Luka being portrayed as a hard-ass or a bad guy :P

Her most iconic songs are "Double Lariat" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZBLXN5QWVU (driven idealist), "magnet" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egxSBhfjcTU (lesbian, sensualist), Luka Luka Night Fever - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uUE1wY-_hc (aggressive), Just be Friends (calm, modern, femenine) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wL3x...eature=related

Her usual character traits (in the NicoNico fan community):
-husky voice, tall, mature woman (canon)
-~slightly~ masculine, the most likely to genderbend / be paired with women
-seductive, "adult"
-driven, determined
-aggressive (especially sensually/romantically)
-the most "modern" woman (she's more often styled after Japanese 20-something fashionistas than the anime/manga inspired outfit designs for the other Vocaloids... she also gets more jazz, hip hop and trance fare)

Most Common Pairings:
-Miku (thanks "magnet")
-Gakupoid (probably thanks to similar release-dates and height)

"Evil" variant - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLPN0...eature=related
(a vain, delusional, hard-working woman who is most likely insane... she cuts up the other Loids for her dream-kimono)

Her costume is based on designs for eastern clothing ~ cheongsams and Chinese dresses and is meant to be flowy. So some kind of silk may not be a bad choice (though a difficult one to work with). I'd avoid thick leather or shiny vinyl (matte/textured vinyl or suede might actually look very nice if you wanted a heavier fabric). Though if you want it to be cheap, not to wrinkle and photograph well, you're probably fine with a cotton/polyester blend twill.
Basement Sale: Touhou: Mokou costume, clearfiles/shitajiki, NeoRomance/Angelique artbook, etc.
