making a particular eye patch
so it seems that it is very hard to find an eye patch as close to this in shape so i think i am going to attempt to just make it, shouldn't be all that difficult.

Yeah, leather would work. Tanned leather is preferable. For the cord you could use elastic cord or braided chord, though the elastic tends to be less abrasive.

Try Tandy leather supply. Some people have stores locally. I'm not one of those lucky ones, but they do have a website: Tandy Leather Factory. You can also find small pieces at craft stores like Michaels. Failing all else, why not grab nice big leather belt at a thrift store and cut it into the shape you need? For a small piece like the eyepatch, there's plenty of sources. Happy cosplaying!
