Power Rangers-inspired Lolita outfits?

Okay, and I know right off the bat I'll probably get flamed for this, one of my friends (who does not have a cosplay.com account) is trying to create a design for a Mighty-Morphin' Power Rangers-inspired Lolita outfit.

How on earth can she go about doing so?

You're not gonna get flamed here. ^^

Well hopefully she has done all her research on lolita otherwise those outfits wont be nice or lolita at all. As long as the basics are kept she should be able to go wrong. I like inspired outfits myself, Im putting together some stuff to do a Mario one.

If you need places to read up on lolita go to these links:

Wow! I'm intrigued, though I don't know if my advice will be welcome.
1) she has to keep the Lolita sillohette, which means a knee length skirt, with volume.
2) it has to be fairly modest. This shouldn't be too difficult to do, since the power ranger uniform is a turtleneck
3) I think the best way to make it reconizable as power rangers would be to make the decorations on the blouse the same as the uniform (the diamond shapes on the arms and front, for example) but add some lolita touches, I can't think of anything to suggest ATM.
4) post pictures!!!

I could maybe a little bit see the Pink Ranger working for Sweet Loli.

When in doubt, consult the bible!

Oh, don't worry. She's a seasoned Lolita. I'm pretty sure half of her wardrobe is from Angelic Pretty. lol
But yeah, so far, we're not sure whether to go with a one-piece dress or a jumper and blouse sort of thing.
I'm pretty sure all our petticoats should be white (not that we'd let them be seen...but still...)
We're not sure what to do about gloves. We're concerned that long white gloves with embroidered designs would look too...Sailor Moonish for this.
We also are not sure where to go with the helmets. I mean, helmets would look HELLA stupid combined with Lolita fashion. I'm sure we'd end up on every "Worst" list ever. But...the helmet is an integral part of the outfit, and we're not sure how to translate that into Lolita fashion.
For shoes we're thinking white boots (not sure what style) and white over-the-knee socks with the diamond-shaped designs up top in our respective colors--I'm the Red Ranger, apparently.
We're also unsure of what to do about the belt and what to do about the three white triangles on the chest. O_O

I think a pretty simple op would be better in this case.

Try going for 'subtle' touches of that Ranger charm. Don't make it too obvious that you're trying to merge the two ideas of Ranger and Lolita, but just incorporate symbols and other Ranger gadgets into the look. Make accessories, those little cell phone/transformer things xD, etc.

You could just do solid one color op's with same color accessories, shoes, whatever, and then incorporate some aspects of Rangerhood that wouldn't make you look too over the top.

When I saw the topic name, I immediately thought Lolita!Rita Repulsa. XD

For the helmets, maybe somehow incorporate the design onto a hat?

Well, for gloves I think short ones would be the way to go.
As for helmets, obviously actualy helmets are a no go. Try to create a headpeice that shows the MMPR influence.

What about somehow incorporating the visor part of the helmet into a head band?

Goodness, I've never been this absorbed in someone else's work before XD.

I don't think a mini top hat would be the option to go although it still should be seriously considered. Maybe it's just me but I would try to go for a closer to full size hat. I love full size hats with lolita, and since this is supposed to be based of the helmet, it would represent it better? I guess the style of hat is dependent on the final design.

What if you used a hood and had dark sunglasses? Then you'd have the helmet-like silhouette. Or try a beanie or toboggan type thing.

I am also of the opinion that white triangle trim would look awesome. And I suggest white Mary-Janes and white socks with the diamond pattern. As for the belt, pull out the sculpey! ....Oh, I was about to say that you could use the buckle-thing like a brooch and stick it on your chest with a bow or something, but that would DEFINITELY be Sailor Moon-ish. You could just wear a big bow on your head and put the brooch on that!

I've never done any lolita, so I don't know how any of my ideas would fit in, but I do know that there isn't much skin exposure in lolita. So, I was thinking for the diamonds on the chest, that you could make the whole thing one piece up to the top of the diamonds, and then have a shirt underneath it that wasn't attached to the dress visibly. Like a jumper without the shoulder straps.

Man, this is an incredibly interesting idea. But that's all I got for you.

I think you'll have to experiment with a bunch of different things to figure out what'll look best. Draw concept art. o_o
