Automail Arm

I cosplay as Edward Elric from FMA, and I need help on an easy way to make his automail arm without spending too much money on it. I have a sweater I use as his jacket (for now,) but now that summer is coming up, I want to try to make the arm so that I won't have to wear the sweater in the hot sun. Anyone got any suggestions? So far, I plan on using a long sleeved black shirt and cutting one sleeve off so I can use the other sleeve as a base for the arm.

Cardboard and silver spray paint. Sounds cheap and ugly but i made a cardboard automail before i made my styrene one and it looked pretty darn good.

Also, if you happen to be really tiny, i'm selling off my old automails in the marketplace :3 they're not in the greatest shape but you might be able to salvage them :P

Some people make the automail out of craft foam over a glove. It looks REALLY spiffy. Time-consuming, but SPIFFY TO THE MAX. But it won't necessarily be cooler (meaning temperature). If you are trying to make your Ed costume less hot I would suggest getting a jacket that isn't a sweater

This is probably way easier than making automail.

You could always paint your arm silver and tape cardboard onto it for parts owo
