I wouldn't ever do a gender bender myself, if I wanted to be a male character I would just outright crossplay. but if other people wanna make femme versions, that's their buisiness and not in my power to stop them. I don't mind, just not something I would do.

I actually like the idea of it
But like everyone said, if they are done right. I've seen too many SNJs that I could tell they are doing it only for attention. It's kinda hard to pull it off too, so people who did it really good, I admire them!I mean, people have different thoughts about how much is being sexy and how far is to reach up to being skanky, so it is hard to pull it off to make it "acceptable" to many people. I'm actually contemplating on this one cosplay I wanna try pulling it off... It's character from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and this character, Star Platinum, is like, really REALLY muscular character. So instead of trying to get a body like body builder, I'm thinking about making it "female" version so being smaller than actual character will be acceptable. But I'm still thinking about this idea, just because I dunno if I can pull it off right ![]() What I wanna say is that try not to spit at people who are trying to pull off female versions of male characters, because some people might have good reasons behind it. Be that the clothes character are wearing, body type, or just simply for artistic reasons.

I'm sure some day I'll find a gender bend'd cosplay that makes me love this, but until then, "sexy no jutsu" have ruin'd it for me. :[

That wouldn't be hard to do; he's already so girly-looking XD And I say that with all respect; I love that series, even though Kaname gets on my nerves sometimes >.<

How are people going to know you are Kaname and not a random Night Class girl? I mean, I like the character and the idea, but be prepared for people not knowing who you are (though if you could go with a girl Zero and a guy Yuki that would be a different story, I think people would get it)

LOL, like many things in cosplay, I guess it's only good if you're doin it rite! I've seen a lot of femme versions done well, and recognizably a female version of the male character. I don't think you see a lot of male versions of female characters because it would be difficult in many cases to create a recognizable cosplay given the confines of male clothing styles available. The world of female fashion is a much bigger place! Besides, I suspect guys find it to be more macho to just crossplay female characters! XD

I was thinking of doing a female 'Howl' but that would have been redundant..

I love the idea of creating female versions of a male character! Especially if you pull it off wonderfully. And make it recognizable~ I believe that it's just another way to show how much you love the character. <3

When I first thought about it, I thought, "Ew, no." Because I used to be one of those people that would draw my fave characters as females and make RP characters out of them, which I drew out of and thought as really geeky because all the OCs I made like that turned out to be HUGE mary-sues. But then I got to reading and I thought, "Wouldn't it be fun to...?" So I like the idea over all, and now I'm planning already on making something like a female Riku from Kingdom Hearts II. The most I would change about the costume though is tighter pants, more feminine shoes and maybe wear the vest closed so it hugs the body.

After watching the Cell sagas of Dragon Ball Z to get a better feel for Android 18, I have found that I would absolutely love to do a Femme Perfect Cell. It's probably be the exact same design, only with the feminine silhouette and curves. ^^

My first cosplay was a gender bender. *directs your attention to my display picture*
I'm on the same train of thought as everyone else I think, as long as there was real effort put into the outfit, it still resembles the original male counterpart, and it wasn't blatantly an attempt to sex-up a conservative character, it's fine.

In my opinion, it only really works if it's a popular character. Then the person isn't just another so-and-so, they have a unique costume.
