Look at us! So many of us totally lived the American Girl lifestyle.
![]() The American Girl parties... those official ones they put on where you bring your doll and dress up to meet other fans. Those were kind of like my first conventions. I went to the ones in Springfield, OH every year.

I just read that Kirsten is being discontinued too! WTH?!
Timeline of American Girl. I guess I got into them right after Felicity's entire collection was released.

That wiki is a great resource. I had no idea what Josefina's surname was until now.
My name is Josefina Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Looks like I got into them right as Addy was released. My first doll was Samantha. I still have my Samantha nightgown, although I can't wear it (obviously).

I'd only ever had the books and some trading cards (for Kirsten and Samantha), but never a doll. I remember when Josefina was released, that was the last big news I heard about American Girls stuff just before I started losing interest in it. So I basically have no idea what has been released/changed since then. :-/ |

I still have all my dolls and everything. Sometimes we get them out and "go through it" which really means we take the stuff out and play with it lol. I am actually taking a slight detour this year to Dragon*Con so I can go to their store in Atlanta. The one in NY is AMAZING!

I love American Girl! I have played around with the idea of cosplaying at least one of the girls. I have a Kirsten doll and also mini dolls of the other girls.

Ah~ American Girls!! I still have Felicity's dress and Samantha's nightgown, even though I've long out-grown them. It might be fun to be an American Girl again~ What a cute idea. I went to one of the Pastime Parties, too. It was so much fun.

I'm planning on making some, if not all, of Felicity's outfits. I also love most of Molly, Samantha, and Kit's outfits. I KNOW I'm forgetting another girl. I loved American Girl as a child. In fact I still do. It's my dream to own all of the series' as well as get a doll. Elizabeth and Molly's friend (I can't remember her name) were who I was forgetting earlier. I love most of the girls, but Felicity will always be my favorite.

THAT'S what they were called! Thanks, Kat! Actually, I think we went to the same one once.
I went at least three years, four, I think. I always dressed up. Again, it was like my first conventions.

I remember this franchise when it first came out. (Yes, I'm THAT old.)
A few years ago, I was walking past their flagship store in Chicago. A little girl, her mother and mother's friend were walking down the steps of the store, with arms full of those red bags. The little girl loudly proclaimed to her mother's friend, "Mommy said I could spend one thousand dollars, but I spent TWO THOUSAND!!!" I can say this was probably the only time I was jealous of a toddler, and felt the child within me whimper a little. Not so much at the prospect of having AG toys, but having two-thousand dollars worth of ANYTHING as a kid. I was a tomboy, and American Girl wasn't my bag. ............... and now, I have thousands of dollars worth of little girl dresses in my closet, i.e. cosplay. WHAT THE HECK.

AG actually released many of their patterns in a book back in the early years of the company; anyone wanting to cosplay Sam, Kirsten or Molly can find these on AG fansites. After that, it's a matter of scaling them up and making alterations based on the fact that you are not a doll.
