Question to sew or not to sew?

Reference image: Auriaya

The belt! My original plan for the belt was to get some heavy sew in interfacing and cover it with my fabric and sequin on the details. However, after seeing this tutorial about craft foam armor and fabric paint, I'm wondering if that's a better way to go.

What do you all think?

That craft foam tutorial is really good! One of my friends used it to make some pretty nice Saber (Fate/Stay Night) armor.

That being said, I would personally go with the fabric/interfacing method because the belt goes pretty high up on the torso and will probably need to bend and fold a lot so you can move. Sewing strips of boning to the interfacing, and then sewing the front and back panels of fabric to that, would create a soft framework and help it stand up and not get floppy.

I've made Altair's belt from assassin's creed using the craft foam method, and it will not look anything like your picture if you do it that way. Boning and facing is the way to go on this i'd say.
