I normally don't have a problem with smiling, but that doesn't mean all of my photos are goof-proof. An issue I seem to have most of the time is when I want to make a cutsey face. I tend to close my eyes and imitate doing a happy anime face. One that looks like this: (^_^) Since eyes don't naturally curl upwards, I just end up looking like I blinked for the photo. This has ruined some really nice shots.
Would anyone happen to have ideas about how to make more realistic cute faces? |

How to shoot people up-close that have bags under their eyes?
I was wondering if you had any advice on how to shoot people up-close that have 'panda eyes' or bags under their eyes?
What kind of poses or angles could they do to make it less noticeable? Of course, wearing concealer and such, obviously. XP |

The key is to have a light source that does not come from above the person. For example an on or off camera flash, a window, or a reflector.
Also, when it's not enough, Photoshop > patch tool. |

@Ashurachan Ah, thank you! See, I had no clue, I actually thought a lighting from above helped. @_@U
So you're advice is to make sure that the lighting then comes from the side? oxo Avoid both light above and below the person, right? |

You can have light from above, but it really depends on the relative angle to of the light to the subject. If the angle is too steep, then have the raccoon eyes. Butterfly lighting is a example of when you have a light that's straight on and above the subject.
Just take a look at this vid, it pretty much explain how to do basic light. http://www.petapixel.com/2011/11/12/...o-portraiture/ |

The image is not cropped to a square. Either have to crop smaller or expand the shorter side. What software did you use to crop?
I cropped the bottom to equal 200X200 . Just follow the link and right click "Save". |
