Help with Death the Kid?

So technically i've done 2 cosplays before, but 1 i already had the clothes and hair normally (light yagami - death note) and the other.. well actually the same thing now that i think about it (Gary Oak - pokemon)

But now i need to actually buy/make things for a cosplay and i want to be as accurate as possible. I plan on cosplaying Death the Kid. So I wanted to post my ideas on how to do this, and make sure there isn't an easier way. I DO NOT WANT TO BUY A PRE-MADE COSPLAY.

1. He just has a white buttoned SHIRT under the blazer, right?
2. I can go shopping for a BLAZER with the curves in like that, no problem (i'm skinny, so no worries). Then i'll just buy some white fabric and sew on the stripes. Or is there an easier way?
3. The PANTS are just black dress pants, as far as i know
4. The SHOES are just black shoes. My marching/dress shoes will work fine
5. How can i make the RINGS/NECK THING?
6. Is there a tutorial on making the GUNS? I'll admit, I haven't checked these forums yet, so feel free to just say "yes"
7. Lastly, the HAIR. I have dark brown hair, about the same length as Death the Kid. So Should i dye it black or buy a wig? And also, should it be done fully black then hair-paint the white stripes? The only other idea i've seen is these http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/Acc...ack-267582.jsp
Luckily, there's a hot topic here in town so i could go check these out before buying them. But maybe there's something i'm not thinking of
8. Is there ANYTHING ELSE that I'm forgetting?

you can sew on bias strips for the white strips just cut the length u need. if you get a black blazer it may have a weired collar you'd have to take off. you seem to have everything pretty well planned out good luck

For my Death the Kid cosplay, I made the rings out of clay. Not the most comfy things, but they did the trick. You have to be a little careful on them breaking, but you could always try making the shinigami skulls out of foam to prevent that. The skull on his neck, I again, made out of clay and painted, then added a little pin so I can pin it to my shirt.
As far as the guns go, I used Airsoft pistols (9 millimeters are the type he uses, and as long as you keep the orange tip, and make sure nothing can fire out of them, most conventions won't hurt ya, but always good to go check on what your con allows..) If you look on eBay, they go pretty cheap.
If you really want to make them, I've never seen a gun making tutorial, but I could very easily be wrong.
With his hair, get the wig. It'll be a lot easier to put the stripes on. I painted mine onto the wig directly with acrylic paint. This will also make sure the white, after a couple of layers, doesn't fade away.
Everything else seems fine in your plan. Good luck. Cx

1. Yes.
2. Look around thrift stores maybe, you can also always bring it in if it is too big.

5. Maybe use Crayola Model Magic, then you just paint over silver. To make his brooch stay.. (neckthing) find some sort of clip that you can stick into it (before it dries) so that it'll be able to clip onto the neck of your shirt.
6. I have not seen one on these forums yet. You can just use black toy guns and then paint them like his are.
7. Heres what I was going to do: Find a short black wig, block of all the parts that you want black with paper. Then you spray paint the black that is showing white. Then touch it up a little so it is perfectly symmetrical.
8. I think you have it all... remember to act in character though. ^ ^

I totally agree, especially with the wig part. So many really good Kid cosplays are absolutely ruined because somebody did a bad job with the hair. I think that a wig is your best bet by far, and do try and keep those lines in symmetry !
