Definitely a great tutorial! I faved it on DA so I can share it with peeps. I love your examples--so clear and understandable!
@OMGwyn: definitely practicing in a mirror helps too!

I think it's also good to look at the character your cosplaying as poses.

That's a really helpful guide! That's true that props present new problems. I know for one prop I have to hold it in the one hand and find something else to do with the other ('cause it's so small, but I usually end up pointing at the photographer because the character does that sort of thing)

Those are really good tips ^.^ Although sometimes using the character's "signature pose" isn't always good, if it's over-used, in my case. So, it's time to go practice ^.^

Good guide! I always found myself doing the same pose in my solitary shots, but its an overused pose.(Roxas in battle stance)

Thank you so much for putting that together!
Since I'm new to cosplay, this is going to be so helpful, especially for the con I'm going to in the fall.

Awww, thanks again people. You're way too kind, really. *blushes* I'm so glad you like it, though. It was a lot of fun to make, so...
![]() BsWN - Well, just because a pose is overused doesn't mean it's bad. It's always a great place to start at, and you can always put your own personal twist to the pose as well. ![]()

This was great! I'm new to cosplay and my first time was for San Diego Comic Con. I'm really happy my character has a personality where the 'dead hand' won't come into play. She always has her hands on her hips or doing something with them. These are great tips! I'm definitely going to keep them in mind for when I do my Sucker Punch cosplay!

This is a great tutorial! While I like to think I'm decent at posing for photos, there's always room for improvement, and it's easy to forget little things like what you went over. I'm EXTREMELY guilty of the "dead hand" effect.
