Your ideal workout playlist!

What kinds of things do you guys like to listen to when you work out?

For me I definitely find myself listening to fast, peppy remixes of songs - even certain anime songs remixed are absolutely perfect motivators. Anything trance and techno also applies!

So tell me - what songs do you guys listen to? I'm looking to build my playlist.

I'm actually working a few new list up now...

Gladiator mix-

Evanesence - Origins.
DJ Shadow - The outsider
Disturbed - Indestructible
My Ruin - Stick it to me.
Fuel - Bring you down
A Perfect Circle - Judith
Finger Eleven - Stay in Shadow
Sevendust - Denile
Ramnstein - Fueur Frei
Exila - Break me down
Seether - Break me down
Sick Puppies - Your going down.
Otep - Confrontation

11 songs, an intro and exit. Needs a few more looking for that disturbed/ramnstein feel.

Ready Set Go Mix--

Paul Oakenfold - Ready, Set, Go.
Prodigy - Voodoo People (Pendilum mix)
Fort Minor - Remember the name
Dragon Ash - Resound
Blur - Song 2
Placebo - Meds (Paranormal Attack mix)

A few more songs to come

One, hard rock. The other a mix between electronic and up beat/inspirational stuff.

We needed this Thread up a long time ago. Lets lay out some ground rules first:

-No illegal download links. Unless the person who made the song specifically gave permission for the song to be free and provided the download link.

-youtube links are ok

-tell us when you like to listen to them

Thats all the rules I can think of right now.

Vicarious by Tool - this one is an amazing cover in piano. I listen to this when doing my biceps workout. She does a ton of other greats songs you wouldn't expect to sound great on piano but they totally do.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2KhEW37xJA

Nalepa Monday remix - original song Monday by The Glitch Mob

Great for cardio or plyometrics (jump training)

I like to listen to epic movie music. The kind that get's my heart racing (mostly Pirates of the Caribbean.)

I also like to listen to remixed music or techno in general, but it gets hard when listening to things with lyrics because I want to sing to it and that isn't good for me when combined with working out because I'd lose my breath much more quickly.

anything with a nice fast beat, but I find music like Within Temptation what have you done to be a good workout song for my tastes =)

Instead of beauty to direct its light to, the heart hardens like the frozen world your absence has banished me to.

I like to listen to shounen anime soundtracks, as strange as it seems it really helps. The association of the peices of music with where they were used in the series has me remembering scenes or battles as opposed to thinking "only 18 more minutes on the treadmill, only 17 minutes 59..." as I would with music that doesn't bring such things to mind.

Ok this is sort of cheating. it's an AMV, and an old one at that. This was wayy before youtube, and one of the first ones I ever saw. But looking at it now is sort of a big motivator for me.

for anybody who watched DBZ growing up, Vegeta was a character that was one of your first likable antagonists. Sure he was evil, but it was his unyielding drive to become the very best that made him such a cool character. It didn't matter how powerful the person he was fighting was. He would literally charge at the guy at full force and throw everything he had at him. That's what really shows in this AMV, unyielding determination.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6clR...eature=related

looking at it today, it doesn't hold a candle to other amvs, but for me It has a nostalgia to it.

One of my favourite songs to workout to is Unknown Soldier by Breaking Benjamin. That song makes me want to save the world, I swear.

A combination of Video Game and movie scores that gets the heart racing, such as Metal Gear Solid, Halo, Ace Combat, John Williams, and the Rocky theme.

Oh yeah, and the ever essential "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor

My top lifting playlist

I was going to make this thread if it wasn't in existence ha ha. I have many bands/songs I like, but why not list my favorites that in some way (either directly or indirectly) the lyrics refer to getting stronger. I hope you discover a new band, cause these are some sweet "psych you up" tunes. Parenthesis are how it relates...just in case you don't get it lol)

Wierd Al - Eat it...just kidding

30 Seconds to Mars - Attack (the Iron)
AC/DC - Back in Black (workout clothes lol)
Adema - The Way you Like it (me. big. muscle.)
Alice in Chains - Man in the Box (Max Rack)
All That Remains - Two Weeks (to reach a personal record)
Angel Dust - Bleed (scraping a bar on your chin during standing over-head shoulder press)
Atreyu - Becoming the Bull (mind set/feel like the hulk)
Avantasia - The Wicked Symphony (gym noises)
Blutengel - The Oxidising Angel (oxidize=to combine with oxygen=breathing lol)
Bullet for My Valentine - Tears Don't Fall (but the sweat does)
Celldweller - Switchback (superset? lol)
Chevelle - The Red (blood rushing to muscle)
Distrubed - Stupify ("my narrow scope of reality" =focus)
Dream Theater - Constant Motion (up/down repeat)
Drowning Pool - Tear Away (tearing down muscle from workout before it gets stronger)
Epica - Unleashed (my strength)
Firewind - The Fire & The Fury (of me lol)
Fuel - Won't Back Down (from a set)
In Flames - Reroute to Remain (getting through that last rep)
Inner Party System - Don't Stop (getting through the set)
Kamelot - Moonlight (guitar riff at :35 and 3:07 is awesome!)
Korn - Freak on a Leash (With my stop watch around my neck...sort of lol)
Lacuna Coil - What I see (bigger muscle)
Linkin Park - One Step Closer (to getting stronger)
Lordi - Blood Red Sandman ("Once again there is pain!"... soreness next day)
Magnitude 9 - No Turning Back (to an unhealthy lifestyle)
Megadeth - Crush 'Em (the reps)
Metallica - any (are you kidding? workout music to the max!)
Mushroomhead - Crazy {Seal Cover} (me)
Pantera - Walk (to the next station lol)
Rammstein - Du Hast ("You Hate"...being wimpy)
Rob Zombie - Superbeast (Listen to during bicep curls, try it...)
Rob (White) Zombie - More Human Than Human ("freedom of the blast" =pump)
Sabaton - Primo Victoria (="First Victory"...over the weight=personal record)
Secret Sphere - Under the Flag of Mary Read (best pre-chorus ever at 1:30, 2:31, 6:41!)
Serenity - Dead Man Walking (leaving gym lol)
Sevendust - Praise (comments from family/friends)
Seventh Wonder - Edge of my Blade (just an excellent workout song)
Skillet - Comatose (Sleeping the night after a good workout)
Spineshank - Smothered ("You push from the inside" =strength)
Spoken - Bitter Taste (Yelling to get you pumped)
Stabbing Westward - Save Yourself (from being wimpy)
Static-X - Push It (Come on! obvious one here)
Taproot - Poem ("Break!"...a sweat)
Theocracy - Laying the Demon to Rest(nearly 10 minute song of psych you up lyrics/music)

Thereyago, my top lifting songs, most of these are symphonic metal and hard rock, but the best lifting/exercise music if you ask me.

@distantarray...When I read you liked Within Temptation. I had a hunch you'd like most of the list I came up with lol.

lol, oh man, well I don't want to lose points in such a way...*casually deletes Metallica from list* I've always liked Metallica, but now I've progressed...into progressive metal so that's why it's okay lol. You can't tell me Master of Puppets or Sanitarium aren't good workout songs...

For those who like techno/trance
Waves- DJ Satomi (Any workout time...it's fun!)
Dum dadi do - Nightcore (Cardio time...)
Sound of my Dreams - DJ Melody? (Cardio!)
Castle in the Sky - DJ Satomi (I like to listen to this one when doing reps. It's got a pronounced beat that's not too fast)
Caramelldansen - Caramell (Good for cardio)
Spelar Ingen Roll - Caramell (I like this one for reps...again, the beat isn't too fast)

For the metal people:
Elegy - Leaves' eyes ( Cardio)
Our truth - Lacuna Coil (reps)
I walk alone - Tarja Turunen (walks or treadmill...obviously)
Omnous - Eluviete (sp?) ( This is good for reps and things similar too)

Don't know why I can't think of anything more at this moment, but there's some of the stuff that I normally listen too. I love the combination of metal and techno.
