velcro is an easy way to attach shoulders to the body pieces...
a harness is also a good way to get them to stay on really easily, with straps and buttons or things like that... my shoulders this time, i just tied a leather thick thread, tying it to the body piece |

I have a question what would be the best "Material" used to making Tier 10 shoulders for the Warrior..I had in mind I don't want to be exactly weighed down since I will be wearing a Worgen fursuit under. Paper Mache,Fiberglass,or a mixture of all sorts of mats?

Eaiswen: Essex's shoulder tutorial using insulation foam is amazing. The foam is really lightweight too.
Now for my own question: For my <Candy Vendor> costume, I want to make the green glowing thing that goes over my head. My costume isn't going to be very recognizable, so I want to be sure to have the tag. I'd also like to make it pretty big. It doesn't have to be the exact ratio, but I want people to be able to read it easily if I'm onstage. Only problem is, I have no idea how to make it. It needs to be lightweight and can probably be supported by my corset (go-go steel bones). I'd love to make it really glow, but not sure how to do it. Any suggestions?

Actually some of my old guildmates did light-up nametags last/this year for Blizzcon:
http://zzq.cc/nameplates.jpg They are attached to headbands. I can get in touch with the guy who made them and see if he'll divulge his secrets if you like their design. :>

Those are awesome, but I want mine a lot bigger. I'd love to find out the method though and see if it can be scaled up!

I made proportionately-sized name tags last year. I used that clear hard plastic stuff? It ended up way too heavy and I just couldn't keep the things stable. So I would suggest free-standing letters connected with wire. Maybe LED tape.

The problem is the head band atachment. For a larger size you are going to have to move to a harnees of some osort on your back. Any thing over 2-3 pounds and you neck will suffer ever so much

Just curious. Has anyone ever used Easihair products? I'm looking at one of their hairpieces for my costume and was wondering about the quality.

Ok. I've came up short on my search. Does anyone know of a good tutorial for resin casting? I'm wanting to try my hand at it. But, I have been unsuccessful at finding a tutorial. Can anyone help? Many thanks!

For gems, I like easy cast resin. I went off this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3a7VVHJ6Jhw For larger amounts and more serious bznz (over like, 6 oz), there's this website: http://www.b9robotresource.com/plastic_casting1.htm and i don't know anything about the whole fiberglass and resin method, but this tutorial was in the tutorial list: http://www.digitalemerald.com/cosplay_armor_index.html |

I'm super new to costuming, and was wondering if anyone could answer these for me:
Would anyone know what materials and how to make nice looking possibly curvy kind of details on a corset? I'm hoping that the end result would be something like this, but with a full corset rather than the super midriff baring shown here. http://darazan.deviantart.com/#/d341f73 Also, how would I make the little circle over the head? There was something on here about light-up nameplates earlier. Would I be able to use the same kind of method? |

I have a question on how everyone finds materials for their costumes!!!
I always look at peoples armor pieces and wonder "what are the layers of materials that makes up that piece?" I am just flabergasted on what to use in making these nice smooth, cartoony pieces like everyones look like (how it's supposed to look). I understand that you can make robes and sleeves and basic cloth pieces by just sewing, but I'm wondering mostly about the pieces that stick out like shoulders and solid objects like weapons and shields. I'm just wondering because all I know how to use is cardboard and clay and paint and cloth... so should I just go looking around places like the DI looking for random weird pieces that I might be able to turn into a piece. so thanks in advance to any help, I know you guys can answer I've seen how awesome you have looked for years now ![]()
