Turning a costume into steampunk- what to leave and what to take?
For A-Kon 22, my friend and her group are making "Steampunk Soul Eater" costumes. Basically, they're going to take the basic elements of Soul Eater characters, then add some steampunk "flair" to them. They asked me to join them using my (will be) current, true-to-the-character costume, Medusa, and make her Steampunk.
I had a few basic ideas for her, like giving her a black top hat with the same design she has on her hood, possibly a black/white/yellow corset, maybe weather the ends of her pants and shirt a bit, but that's all I have. What else could I add to make it more Steampunk, but still keep the original "feel" of Medusa? Here's some links to what Medusa looks like: http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/p...ter/medusa.jpg http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs48/f/20...oldenfrost.png (This one's fanart, but it's veryy accurate.)

if you want to go lazy add a bronw corset out side the dress and get goggles.
to get more complicated work on the staff or is that a broom add a mechanism that allows it to fly leather or metal wings, a propeller and/or metal funnels to vent steam out the back. steam punk metal snakes to wrap around the arm over the tattoos. turn the whole out fit into a black Victorian dress with black hood.

put gogles on her hood where the snake eyes are and have chains patterns for the snake tattoos on her arms.
also, have the buttons on her collar look like gears/clock mechanisms hope it helps =D

I need help too!!
![]() As it seems this hasnt been replied to for a few months, I am working around the same type of idea and could also use some help. So hopefully someone has ideas for me too! Differently I am taking on my Sheryl Nome Star Date (Macross Frontier) and turning it into steampunk. http://oi34.tinypic.com/5xjuh0.jpg So far I have changed the colors of the outfit and made a light tan shirt with dark brown for the upper and lower bands of the shirt. I also have dark brown shorts, dark brown (and black if need for change) lace topped thigh highs. And I will be wearing a pair or dark brown suede slouch boots. Obviously instead of the sunglasses I need goggles, but is there any other type of flair I can give to her without completely destroying the aspect of the outfit. I want to keep it recognizable but then also give that whole "whoa steampunk Sheryl"
