Sesshoumaru Fluff Attachment

As you might be able to guess, I'm currently in the process of making a Sesshoumaru costume, and I need a little bit of help concerning his fluff. I already have it all made out, but I'm having problems with figuring out how to attach the damn thing to my shoulder. I don't want to constantly be holding it up, since it easily slips off my shoulder, but I can't figure out how to secure it without the ties or whatever showing.

For those who need a visual, here are some references. Thanks in advance for those who are able to help!

What did you make it of? How stable is it? How heavy is it?

I could see something like an elastic that goes under your arm potentially working, but honestly, if it'll be covered up enough beneath there-- why don't you just... safety pin it?
In Progress:
Klan Klang (Lovely Bomber) - Macross Frontier: SnT - (15%- Sewing and logistics)
Jam Kuradoberi - Guilty Gear - (95%- new wig+touchups)
Next Cons:
Youmacon '12
My Curecos
My dA

I would go with snaps or velcro. Velcro could get stuck in the fluff, but if you use the right amount, it will hold. For snaps, you'd have to use some larger ones to be able to carry the weight. Or you could sew it onto the shoulder. It all depends on what you need for the placement.
Does the fluff need to come off so you can put the costume on?

I would prefer to have the fluff be detachable, yes. It's made out of faux shaggy fur and stuffing and is pretty stable, but it weighs around 10-15 pounds. I guess my main concern would be the fluff trying to pull my shirt down if it was attached to only that, considering how heavy it is, but if I safety pin the shirt shut underneath the armor then hopefully it won't do that.
