Can a Man actually cosplay Sheik? (For competitive cosplaying)

Well, I just LOVE SSBB, and I just love playing as Sheik, so, I naturally want to cosplay as her / him.
I have a normal body, and was thinking, can I be a GOOD Sheik? I want to enter tournaments, and things like that.
So, do you think a man can make a perfect sheik? As I've seen, in some photos Sheik have a more mainly body, or am I wrong?

Thank you so much!

If you want to do it, then do it! Nothing's gonna stop you!
But I think Sheik can be pulled off well by a guy.

If you have the motivation to do it, go for it. .

Plus I think a guy could be pulled off by a guy very well.

OoT Sheik is pretty damn masculine. I think being male actually gives you an advantage, especially if you have the lean muscle for the bodysuit to cling to. And in my opinion, men pull off the OoT version MUCH better than females. It would make the cosplay stand out, too, since not many males cosplay Sheik. I would love to see a manly Sheik in person lol.

Brawl Sheik's a lot more feminine. I'd say guys could do it, but women do it better.

I'd be afraid of rabid Zeldatwats screaming at you for being "in denial" over the gender (Which is just STUPID). But you have every damn right to do whatever you want, and I'd be happy to see a man doing Sheik. DO IT! We salute you for your bravery and commitment.

Sheik's gender is really ambiguous anyways. It's princess Zelda in disguise, but she's disguising as a male so that nobody recognizes her. And it's done with magic, so whether or not she's physically a male when she's Sheik... Nobody really knows. At least Sheik is referred to as "he" at least once in Majora's Mask (if I remember correctly).

So you can certainly benefit from the ambiguity ;-)
I'm also male, and I would definitely do Sheik if I had the opportunity!

I think you'd do fine, gender doesnt matter which everyone seems to agree on. If your really that worried than consider it a crossplay like I did.

http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1699775/ <-- me a dude as shiek some many years ago.

I think a lot of guys can pull off the costume well enough just make sure not to worry and have a lot of fun with it

I was actually figuring that out myself. But Sheik is a very masculine character. So I would assume a man would be able to flesh out that costume very well. Heck if anything I guess you can consider it Crossplay. I'm looking into doing a Sheik Character myself.
Well good luck on your Sheik Endeavors!

It really doesn't matter, Sheik is head-to-toe clothing (and it doesn't have to be skin-tight-clingy where everyone can make out every last feature of your body) - the cover in the front alone would suggest you don't have to be ripped. XD

If you wanna cosplay him, you'll be fine I'm sure. One thing's for sure, you'll have a ton of fangirls

I would say go for it! Sheik, especially in OoT, has a fairly many physique. Besides that, if you want to cosplay it, then cosplay it!

Sheik is technically male. You just have some crazy fans that do not believe so. Throughout OoT they DO say HE. Even in the manga, Sheik is stated as a "he". It's a plain fact. Black and white. And I say the mystery of it is amazing so I think both genders could cosplay him.

And I mean, if anyone does argue with you being a 'female' character, argue right back and say girls crossplay as male all the time! I'm guilty of it. xD

Do what you would like. Besides. We all know male can pull off female better than us females anyway. ^_~
