Spirited Away Haku Costume Help

So I was sketching Haku's costume out today, and I saw something I never noticed before. From the side view of the pants, there's some like triangular shape going down the side.

Ref: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0/hakuwhat.jpg

Is it part of the inner shirt or is it separate? I'm thinking of just adding it on to the pants, but I'd prefer to know if it's just some fancy folding in the clothing or something else. I know it's really picky of me, but I'd just want to know to be accurate.

I finished my Haku costume just recently! I used part of this as a reference...

...which shows the pants having slits on the side, to show the blue pants underneath.

I have photos of each layer I made :3

Ah, thanks XD;; I make them myself but with a sewing machine, not hand sewing. You should check out the stickied threads throughout this forum or perhaps look for sewing classes at your local fabric/craft stores.
