Questions about MikomiCon/MikomiCore 2010

Alrighty, so, I wanna go this year, but it'll be my first time going to any kind of convention, so I have no clue how this works! The FAQ on the site isn't especially helpful, but the site suggested we post our questions to the forum here, so here I go!:

When does pre-registration open for the 2010 MikomiCon/MikomiCore? How do I pre-register?

Do CSUN students get a discount on the event price?

What time will things kick off the first day of MikomiCon?

When will the events schedule for MikomiCon be posted?

Can we request for certain voice actors or bands to be there (I saw something about this on the site, but wasn't sure how to go about making a request)?

I guess those are all the questions I have for now. Thanks so much! Hope to see you all there!

While we are on the topic of questions, I heard the MikomiCore moved the dates so it will not conflict with Pacific Media Expo. Can anyone verify this? I would like to know since I'm doing programming for PMX and doing cosplay staffing for Mikomi.

Yes it will be moved and I believe it's after PMX, NOT right after. It could end up as a December con?

Hi everyone! To help answer a few questions:

Yes, the date has been changed to Thanksgiving weekend (Saturday & Sunday), they were aware that PMX landed on the same weekend, and recently changed the date.

In the past, CSUN students were allowed a free pass to Mikomicon. I think it's the same this year.

Things usually start around 9 or 10am, which is usual of cons

But the full program will be posted closer to the date of the convention. Things should start showing up around end of September & October...

I'm sure you can request any band, guest etc... that you have. Just contact the guest coordinator: Jordan@mikomicon.com

Yeah, me too. It's now up against the LosCon SF convention at LAX Marriott, that's been on that weekend for the last 20 or 30 or so years.

If the date is Thanksgiving Weekend from now on, I guess I won't be able to attend again.

It's mainly located in the USU (outside)... and the buildings around there... like Sol Center & Pasadena room, Flintridge room etc....

All the other campus students walking by look at us cosplayers like we're crazy hahaha in '08 I kept getting asked "what's going on?" "Why is everyone dressed up?"

So don't expect everyone on campus to know that Mikomicon is going on XD!

Not naming any names, but I suggested quite a few in particular who have told me that they would love to come out to Mikomi Con. ^.~

Hey Im a Junior who goes to Granada Hills Charter High School, its not even 1 mile away from CSUN, and also I live across from CSUN, do you accept non-CSUN students to go in the MikomiCon? And where is it located if my house is near the soccor field, like which directions? Thanks so much!

Non-CSUN students are allowed to go in. Anybody is allowed to go. =)

I emailed the person who is in charge of the masquerade about entering it and haven't received a reply, anyone else having this problem?

While I'm not in charge of Masquerade entrants. None of the staff not replying is probably because of the date change. Mikomicon is no longer taking place during Thanksgiving weekend due to some issues currently being handled. As of now, there is no set date for it. And it will probably be happening sometime next year.

Check back with the site frequently for updates on this.
