Pole Dance for Fitness!
I have noticed pole fitness has been a new craze recently, so I tried it out last year. I liked it, but I was a student at the time and didn't have the money to keep it up. This year, I purchased a Groupon deal which gave me 10 classes for really cheap and now I'm hooked. My first class, I was sweating and achy in 10 minutes because you need a lot of core and upper body strength to do and maintain holds. I felt about as sexy and graceful as a elephant.
For me, I am not really into the "sexy" aspect of pole, but rather the athleticism and grace that is needed to make it look beautiful and effortless. Don't get me wrong, it's also a lot of fun to be sexy! But I am more attracted to doing cool trick combos. =) And I am gaining a lot of strength and body awareness that I didn't have before.
Downside? A lot of studios are quite expensive when compared to a gym membership. The cheapest in my area is Atomic Allure studio, but I go to a smaller studio. Still, it's crazy fun and an intense workout and may be worth it if you don't have motivation to go to a gym and run on a treadmill.
