I'm working on recomping because I'm at a healthy weight, trying to reduce body fat and waist size instead. 18-20% BF is "athletic" for women, so it's an attainable goal. Sure, looking like a fitness model would be cool, but I'm not that crazy about it.
So far I've been increasing protein intake and doing a light bodyweight routine in addition to swimming and jogging. I'm trying to convince my SO to go to the gym with me to do heavy lifting, because I'm too chicken to start on my own.
yay, I have pretty similar goals. just to lose some belly fat and tone up without losing weight. I'm not measuring weight or bf or inches, I think if I had a few days without improvement I'd likely get discouraged and give up. Instead I'm just trying to judge my progress based on how I feel and how my clothes fit. Maybe instead of weigh-in we should call it a progress report. My progress so far:
I don't see a lot of change visibly, but certain exercises that were very difficult to keep up with are starting to get easier. My flexibility is coming back. Stamina is improving - I can get through a whole half hour routine, at the beginning I usually had to stop 3/4 in because I was crashing
