APH France Jacket Pattern
Hey, so I plan on making France's military jacket. I honestly am out of ideas where to look. I don't need an exact pattern, something easier for me to alter so I can add on that capelet he wears over top of it.
Please help me out! Reference pic: http://images2.fanpop.com/images/pho...37-581-331.jpg |

I think you can probably just use a long coat pattern, then a poncho pattern for the top part.
But i can't help you on the exact pattern XD;; *just tried looking but can't find any with a silly google search, and is far too lazy to dig deeper* But if you dig deeper, i'm sure you can find one. I've seen them around.

This pattern looks pretty close.
http://www.simplicity.com/p-3069-mens-costumes.aspx Except the fact that you might have to shorten it and such. |

Just bumping this thread, rather than making a new one. Has anyone used the above-mentioned pattern to success yet?

Oh, it does. I'm just such a newbie, I thought I'd ask around a bit before I jumped in and started cutting. xD

Butting in XD I used that pattern for my friend's France jacket XD And it looks very inaccurate, but it works. France's jacket is double-breasted, and the Sherlock Holmes jacket has a single row of buttons. I don't recommend it for someone who wants their costume to be accurate, unless you are experienced with altering patterns and can widen the front facings to be double-breasted.
Back of the jacket (with shortened pattern) http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...575361_n. jpg Front (bad pic but you can see how it's a single line of buttons) http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...2570 07_n.jpg

I will be using that Simplicity pattern for mine that I'll start in the next week, and I'm going to be asking my Fashion Tech teacher for advice on widening the facing to make it double breasted and more accurate.
If you haven't made it yet (but I'm sort of assuming you might have since this is a month or so old) I can post whatever tips she gives me?
