Sewing is sewing I wouldn't be conserned and I don't think they would care, when you work in any sort of retail job you tend to not care after a while. If your really worried about it then say it's a Halloween costume. Although I wouldn't go around assuming you would be made fun of my major tip for a successful cosplay it to be confident. When you go in make sure you have a picture that you can show them and they will help you don't worrie about what they are thinking.

People are nice in general - no need to be afraid. And if they ask you about your project it is probably because they are interested and want to know or it will help them assist you. They can easily do their job without asking too many questions. There are people there getting fabric for all sorts of things and I'm sure they see people making costumes all the time (for their kids or for drama club or Halloween - it doesn't really matter, a costume is a costume).

Besides, it feels weirder trying to make excuses to get around explaining. An easy indirect answer is to say it's for Halloween. ^^;;

Here's the finished Usagi wig I did with straightening the wavy extensions so you can see for yourself how straight they are. That's in color #24, that's what the client wanted to go with. So I used the extensions for the whole back part, odangos, and the pigtails. ^^

I FOUND SailorMoon at Value Village near me. ^w^ :heart
So happy about this. I found the Moon Sceptre Wand for $.0.99 at Value Village, so of course I had to buy it. I can't believe my good luck. I thought of making her 2nd season brooch now, I will be buying some acyrlic rhinestones.
I also found the perfect pair of shoes for Usagi's school uniform. C:

I started on making Usagi's school uniform last night! It looks really good, as I bought the perfect fabric. So...here's hoping it turns out alright.

Any suggestions what to do for the white stripes on the v-shape collar and for the sleeve cuffs?

I thought of using bias tape or white ribbon, what do you guys think?

Well thanks, I actually used what I learned from 2 different bang tutorials online plus my own tactics. Here's a progress shot of it drying in the tub. As you can see it has small curlers at the bottom and large on the top. The small ones give a tighter curl and a foundation of the layers on top to lay on. Gives it lots of lift.

Thanks but it's not for me, it was a commission. I have to make my own one day though since I wanna do Usagi, but all my friends do her so I always stick with my other favs.

As for the school uniform. I would use bias tape Double wide. Since single width you can sometimes see the fabric right through it. I choose bias over ribbon because ribbon a lot of the time only comes in a satin finish, or if not then the only matte kind you can get is ribbed for the most part. Or if your feeling ambitious, you can always satin stitch it on. But as beautiful and clean as it looks, its tedious and takes way to much time, when you can get the same effect with other materials.

And good find btw. I love second hand stores, thats where I got my SM bedsheets and comforter for like $7, and a few other SM items like a figure and metal lunch tin.

I have the choker done too but its not in the pic. Don't mind the back of the shirt. The zipper was put in upside down because of the fit of the shirt. That way it can come on and off easily.
I decided not to put the butt bow for now, not sure if the shirt is gonna sit like it does on my body form, or if its going to be higher.

Mask, brooch, moon for choker, glove toppers, and shoes left!

I cut the length of the bangs first, but make sure they're longer than you need. Then I put the curlers in, and your right, I use the hot water method. I normally use a steamer but when I'm using hot water for other things anyway it just makes it easier. You can always trim the bangs shorter after they're curled. You don't want to cut them to too short to start with, you'll regret it, trust me.

And thanks, yeah I'm really busty for such a small girl. ^^; So its hard to have fitted tops that have smaller waists. :/ but that's a good point, I'm gonna add a hook and eye.

So SPIKE is playing Entourage (which I think used to be an HBO show a few years ago?) and one of the episodes they aired today took place at Comic Con - probably filmed at CCSD04 I'm guessing. There's a bunch of cosplayers as extras. Anyway, if you're in the US or Canada you can watch the episode online. Keep an eye out for a Saturn, Mercury and Iron Mouse in the background/crowd scenes

(I'm guessing the ep should be online later tonight or tomorrow.)
