I am in the process of making Link's red mail from ALttP and I threw it on the mannequin just to see how it was going and it looks... jestery?
I need some advice. How can I make this have a more real touch to it?
I am going to do the little x's on the front of the tunic in leather through small metal eyelets.

If you wanted to make it less jester-y, may I suggest you make it a bit heavier? Of course it's too late to switch fabrics, but if you put some kind of heavy cloth underneath it it would look more like armor (which it is- red mail- chainmail). Or you could add pieces of chainmail to it... a couple ribbons of mail sticking out of the bottom, sleeves and neck would be simple, cheap, and might add a lot to the costume.

Having said that, it looks good as it is.
