Photographer wanting Feedback
Hey Y'all
I been wanting some feedback from a my general (still updating) galleries on my DA. It's hard to really understand how great or amazing my shoots could be from the feedback of the cosplayers I've taken pictures of. You know when your excited about getting your photos back you might not really be able to judge actually how they are. So Bureiku Photography DeviantArt When Critiquing please let me know either Overall, a certain shot you liked or didnt like. Thank you |

It'd be best if you picked a couple shots that you think are your best for us to critique. Otherwise, a quick glance at your gallery looks like a bunch of snapshots and nothing worth commenting on.

I'm just going to use your Evangelion photos as an example, since you didn't pick out any photos you'd like to be critiqued in general...
They all have good lighting and atmosphere, but some photos (e.g. 1, 2, 3) seem very cramped and crowded because parts of the cosplayers are cut out or right at the very edge of the picture. I've noticed these tend to be in your vertical shots. Shots like this with some room to breathe at the sides are more aesthetically pleasing. Your Kuroshitsuji shots are a bit mild, I'd like a little more in terms of angles and post-editing. Sometimes, lines in the background are tilted while the cosplayers are straight, drawing more attention to the background and distracting the viewers, e.g. 1 (stairs tilting diagonally downwards while Ciel is upright/not angled), 2 (entire picture tilted, intentional or not). |

Some of the photos taken inside are yellow and slightly noisy, so I'd find somewhere where you have that kind of lighting and mess around with settings. Other than that, they look pretty good to me.

I agree with FiveRings, that it would be better if you picked a handfull of images you would like comments on.
Most of your images seem like random snapshots with little effort to find better angles or lighting. Those type of portraits capture the feel of the convention, so if that is your primary goal, you have succeeded. Sometimes the lighting looks fine, but the results look very random. Poses seem basically capturing what the cosplayers choose to do. If you have some better poses, suggest them to the cosplayers. The images that I like the most tend to be when you took cosplayers to a location away from the crowd so we can concentrate on the cosplayers you intended as the main subject. |
