I just wanted to know how many cosplayers are out there who are in theatre as well. ^^ I do mostly community theatre shows, but I was in one professional show last year, and I'd love to be again sometime. ^^

Any theatre people~?

Yeah i used to be in theater, for like 9 years almost. I took a break from it because I wanted to focus on schoolwork and other things.

I've mostly done street theatre, as an adult. Previously, I'd done some school plays and some professional shows with ballet companies as a child.

I think the background has been good for cosplay.

omg YES. Theatre is my major. I am involved in it all year--it's the reason why my schedule is so unreliable. >.< But I love it very much. I like to do musicals because I've always been a singer first. ^^ I've done community, school, and professional gigs, and in four months' time, I'll have my BA and will take a crack at the real world!

I've been a theatre person literally all my life (I was Baby Jesus once, yo!)
When I went to college, I was offered a scholarship for costume design and construction, but had to turn it down when I couldn't double major with Creative Writing.

But yeah. I'm in a new play now, after three years of not doing anything theatre-wise. The Vagina Monologues! (though whether or not it's actually considered a play is up for debate...)

Ahh, how cool that some of you guys are majoring in theatre! ^^ I'm a senior in high school, but I've been accepted to Marshall University next year and I've decided on double majoring in theatre and Japanese! ^^ What could be better!? XD I'll be busy, but I think it will be worth it, especially to have a degree to work in the two things that I absolutely adore.

I was in musicals back in high school c: And if anyone wants to feel jealous, i was in Fiddler on the Roof with Joey Richter (the guy who plays Ron in the Very Potter Musical). So feel jealous, ahaha~

Anyways. I'm not in theatre anymore, but my friends in cosplay are. My friend who cosplays Italy is in dance, my other friend whom lacks a costume to go by is in choir and works the Dickens Faire, and then my favorite Japan cosplayer in the world is a total theatre girl XD

Me too! <3 That's my major too =D Costume design and construction, mostly, but with a small acting touches.

I am a high schools major for Theatre, and wanting to become a voice actress, and a Drama teacher =D

I've been acting for over a decade, mostly in theater (not musical, though; 'Pippin' was enough to dissuade me). So, the cosplaying is, to me, much like getting into a period costume for a Shakespearean play. But I do the latter much more often than the former.

I've had experience in theatre, yes. Mostly the city Shakespeare Conservatory and no-budget school plays (quite literally, any money spent on productions came directly from the actors' or director's pocket).

I was going to apply for acting school until I learned that it would mean touching a lot of people I was only mildly familiar with. I went into writing instead.
