RE1 Chris Cosplay Help?

Hey, guys~
I've been wanting to cosplay for awhile now, but, I'm kind of stuck. I thought I would be able to get this, but I've been stalking around this site for a few years now, and decided to make an ACC for some help.
I'm currently working on a Chris Redfield cosplay from Resident Evil 1; the REmake [ Yeah, I know; I'm a girl. Haters gonna hate. ], and I have bought/found pretty much everything I need. I already have a shirt, cargo pants, and pair of black boots I can use, [ The boots aren't perfect, but they'll work. ], and I can easily get a holster, ammo pouch, pair of gloves, and kneepads from my dad [ He's a gunsmith and has access to pretty much any military equipment. ]. But, I'm having troubles finding a good enough belt for his vest, and materials/making of the knife+sheath on his "shoulder".
Also, any suggestions for a good enough wig? My hair is kind of long, about S.T.A.R.S Jill length [ I'm thinking about cosplaying her later sometime. ], and I can't afford to cut my hair any shorter than it is, since everyone at school+my sister will make fun of me for it. I'm thinking more of a RE5 wig, maybe?

Here are some references, and item help websites;

If I can't get certain items from my dad, I was thinking about buying from here; http://www.blackhawk.com/
Oh, and, here's the vest I was thinking of using. It's a GREEN M69 Flak vest, but it's 200USDollars. orz ; http://www.jnsmilitaryantiques.com/100_6464.JPG
Is this a good enough place to buy the S.T.A.R.S. patch from?; http://cgi.ebay.com/Sc23-RACCOON-POL...em2c59df 6170

Thanks~! And sorry for such a long post. FFF

EDIT:: I'm getting a (hopefully) good M69 FLAK vest from my dad's friend for the cosplay, and my dad actually has an identical knife sheath that I can use.

An easy thing to use for his belt is a regular military web belt which are found at surplus stores in mass quantities. For the shoulder strap just about any type of 1 1/2 inch wide belt material (can be found at fabric stores) will work. You just need to adjust for length when fitting it on the vest and web belt.

As for the knife sheath, I've seen a lot of people use thin leather to make one. Others like myself just go with a store bought one if we don't know how to work with leather.

The M69 flak vests will usually go between $100 - $200 on average depending on where you buy them. It's the kevlar material that makes them pricey, also those old vests are a bit heavy if you're not used to wearing them.

Hope that helps for options!

The sheath would probably be best if made out of rawhide. Like this one: http://www.mackcustomleather.com/ima...handle-005.jpg

I say rawhide because rawhide has that firm solid look to it, like Chris's.

Regarding the vest, I make a mean STARS vest for $100 + shipping, complete with lettering on the back. I just completed my first model for my Wesker costume at Anime LA. If you're interested, send me a PM or visit my (under construction) site: http://www.cosblade.com

I think some sort of stickied costume guide is needed for the Resident Evil section of this board. As the same questions are being repeated over and over.

Thanks for the help, but I can't really afford to pay anymore like that. Dad will have a fit and we just spent 300+USD for our hotel room at the con. My dad has a friend who I'm hoping has the correct vest that he's willing to let me borrow, and I already have a way to get the "S.T.A.R.S" and "Special Tactics And Rescue Service." on the back.
As for the knife sheath, I think dad said something about him having something identical to the one Chris has. If he doesn't, then I'll be sure to use rawhide, or atleast get a rawhide one.
