Tamarind tastes like lemonade, doesn't it?

...and, I had cod for dinner. Mmmmm.

I love tamarind candy so a tamarind soda float sounds really good.

Tamarind tastes nothing like lemonade.

Aaah... I've never heard of it tasting like lemonade? o: It tastes totally different to me. It's kind of... gritty and earthy? Not so bright and clean like lemons.

I always get it described to me as tasting citrusy/lemony. I don't THINK I've ever had it myself.

Hm, the only similarity I can think of between lemons and tamarind is that they're both sour. Tamarind candy has a TON of sugar in it to make it edible. xD;

So, last night I was bored and hungry. To fix both issues, I made caramel-chocolate-banana tartlets. They are so good. There was supposed to be a ginger/citrus caramel sauce for over it, but I had enough left over filling caramel that I left that out, and sprinkled sea salt over the whole thing. I also halved the recipe and made the tartlets about 2/3 the size they were supposed to be (maybe half the size? I'm not sure, I did not measure).

Recipe is here: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/fo...Caramel-108534

Also in my recipe folder is unicorn poop cookies, which I want to make so badly but have no reason to. ;_;

Behold, my mother's birthday cake;

http://fav.me/d5fj9wc

It's basically a Victoria sponge with blackberry curd and blackberries instead of strawberries and strawberry jam.

ooh, looks tasty.

...on my end, my Mom got a big puffball mushroom from a neighbour ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvatia_gigantea ) and tried frying some of it up with dinner. It looked like pancake slices when being fried, but Mom put a bit too much salted butter in the pan; they didn't taste too great.

I just presented the cake to my mum and everyone had a slice. I think the sponge was a bit dry, but she seemed to like it.

Forgot to get a picture, but I made my mom month-late birthday cupcakes last night. Bailey's Irish creme cupcake and frosting, with gold dragees to decorate. Very moist and delicious, though I put my face too close to the oven when I opened it at the halfway rotate and got a face-full of gaseous alcohol.

Well, when fall hits, I normally start cooking up a storm. :3

So I start testing new things out for around now. The other day I made apple cider, oh my god it's so good, and with the apples I made mini apple pie bites. ^_^

Recently had some blueberry chiffon cake from Paris Baguette, which was quite nice. Have also eaten tiramisu, a chicken falafel wrap, donuts, and cheese-and-tomato pizza. I regret it all, and yet at the same time I don't... xD
