I have some colorful veggies here that I plan on using for dinner tonight.

Well, technically peppers are a fruit...but that's beside the point...

Edit: I decided to make soup. You're probably thinking I'm crazy making soup in this heat, and you'd probably be right. But I wanted soup. And it was yummy.

We had chicken legs in the freezer that needed to be used as well as the celery and different colored peppers. So naturally I thought, SOUP!!

Just spent 9 days in California visiting my fiance's family.

I had SO MUCH DELICIOUS FOOD while I was there.

Went to a 3 star restaurant in Napa Valley for a 12 course dinner, a really nice restaurant in Monterey Bay, and had an 8 course dinner in San Francisco. Also had Peruvian food for the first time. And went to the Garlic Festival and had garlic pistachio and chocolate ice cream. And went to JPop Summit in Japantown and had delicious ramen and okonomiyaki and then bought deep fried mochi with matcha powder and also an ice cream sandwich composed of a giant 3inch rose macaron with green tea ice cream in the middle. Had passionfruit, piscachio, and a green tea with yuzu filling macaron. And fantastic fresh Chinese BBQ pork buns.

Sorry Seattle, you have delicious food, but not quite this delicious!

That is almost enough to convince me I want to go to California.

Last night I made jerk-seasoned tilapia with a topping of black beans, corn, tomatoes, chiles, mango, summer squash, and cilantro. I also made curry rice on the side. It came out pretty good, but it was definitely spicy-- much too spicy for Little Dude, as we discovered after a few bites.

Pieces that size for a soup don't sound bad, of course if I had the same pieces chopped bigger I would make a Chinese stir-fry, but they may not be bad in a soup either.

I went to a festival thing at a Japanese market place called Mitsuwa and ate WAY too much! I had a teriyaki burger with an egg, yakitori, tokoyaki, and 2 spam with rice wrapped in seaweed. It was damn tasty though

"Secret sauce" (see also: 1000 Island) is good on hamburgers. I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. It's super tasty. Nice with beef and veg both, alone and in combination. This isn't a joke or anything: why the hell do people look at you funny when you put it on a beef thing that isn't a hamburger?

Nah, I'm just playin'. A couple days ago I actually wanted to have a Big Mac; it's been literally sixteen or seventeen years since I last had one.

Same here, Sam. That's a weird, scary amount of time for a craving to be able to leap across.

It's like god DAMN to I want me a fuckin' soy patty and some shredded lettuce and salad dressing, holy crap. Is it just that you forget how mediocre it was?

Well, if nothing else, having no food in the house around the clock is making me creative.

Grilled cheese with a million ingredients tonight (and everyone proclaimed it was the best they'd ever had), jazzed-up canned soup, homemade French fries, and broccoli -- and say what you want, but I'm proud of myself for being able to cook it right at least once!

I don't think I've ever seen anyone use this thread to ask for advice, but; I don't suppose anyone knows what spices go well with blackberries (I was thinking of spicing some of my mead).
