Just made some Vietnamese stir-fried rice with vegetables, it was... interesting, you don’t usually think of garlic as something to put in rice.

@Lithium Flower: Hardboil an egg, peel, marinate in soy sauce for 15-30 minutes, then slice and arrange over the top. Tastes better if the yolk isn't fully cooked (I like it a bit runny). Or just beat an egg with a little shoyu and add to the broth after it's been removed from the heat.

I also like to add some nori to garnish, but I love me some seaweed.

@Coatimundi: I can't think of a savory dish that isn't improved by the addition of garlic.

I'm the same way! I was a vegetarian for about four years because I've always disliked meat, but I wasn't getting enough protein in my diet so I started eating a little bit again. I mostly stick to fish and poultry, because beef and pork are what really turned me off of eating meat in the first place.

No you are not. Onions are lovely.

Mayonnaise can suck a railroad spike, though.

Delicious rye toast and strawberry jam. And not normal strawberry jam. My grandma makes it, and it's actually done without the same cooking process (Mom explained to me how she made it, but I forgot already. Funny thing- there's beet juice in it.). It just melts into your toast and is SO delicious.

I made a peach and raspberry cobbler yesterday, which is one of my favorite desserts. Couldn't find fresh peaches, though-- not even the cruddy off-season ones they sell this time of year. Still, it came out pretty good, and I wish I'd made a much bigger batch, since I only got one bowl of it... This is the recipe I used, with a little tweaking.

Oh my God, that sounds so good.
It's like a Peach Melba cobbler! XD

What alterations do you make to it?

Besides using frozen peaches, I threw in about three handfuls of fresh raspberries, omitted the lemon juice (I, er, forgot to pick up lemons), eyeballed the sugar for the fruit mixture and threw in a little more to offset the tartness of the berries, and that was about it. The main failing was dumping too much sugar/cinnamon on the biscuit mixture when I put it in too bake, but otherwise it came out really good-- even accounting for the rather runny fruit mixture.

I'm a giant fan of fruit cobblers and crisps, though. I bake so much cake that sometimes, for my birthday, I'll make myself a cobbler instead just to change things up.

I love blackberry cobbler. Every summer, my grandmother and I would pick wild blackberries and make cobbler.

It's, like, one of the desserts I absolutely cannot resist. But this peach melba thing sounds equally awesome.
