I'll be in several places, really. First, I'll be in Houston, then Beaumont with the Mathematician's family, then Carthage (my hometown, close to Shreveport, LA) then I'll be driving up to Vermont for school.

I just polished off one of my favorite sandwiches-- fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomato with balsamic vinaigrette on a baguette. The baguette was still warm from the oven, too! And I'm having a green tea Frappuccino. Later there will be strawberry shortcake, mango mousse cake, and raspberry mousse cake.

Today is a good day for my stomach.

I made an uninspiring tuna salad today.
Probably chicken stroganoff for dinner.

I've always wanted to make a caprice salad into a sammach, but I rarely have basic or vinaigrette.



For lunch I made a sad little grilled cheese sandwich with white bread and colby jack

And some watermelon. Then I had a banana. I AM SUPER INTERESTING GAIS I PROMISE.

For dinner it looks like I am either looking at hot dogs, or if Brando picks up chicken on his way home we'll BBQ some on the grill. But that means we won't be eating until easily 9-ish. So I might just have a hot dog soon because I am hungreeee.

I didn't have a pie pan forever, because of my aforementioned aversion to pie. I finally caved in and got a pretty nice one on HauteLook or something. It's ceramic, and it's turquoise, and it has a fluted edge. If things are pretty I'm more likely to use them.

Balsamic vinegar and olive oil are two things that I use constantly, so they're always in my pantry. I frequently see that sandwich made with pesto, though-- you can make batches and freeze it so you can eat it when basil's not in season, or you can buy it pre-made, it's more versatile, etc. I personally prefer fresh basil to pesto but you can definitely try it with a container of pesto from the supermarket and then use the excess for pasta, pizza, marinating chicken or fish, etc.

I've never had pesto, and doubt it would get used much at all. So I'll probably be cheap and buy a jar of dried basil and pretend I am fancy and Italian.

When I was a kid my grandmother used to buy these big ol chunks of mozzarella and would let me sit around with a wire slicer peeling off big slices of fresh mozzarella. NOM NOM NOM. I need to buy that kind of cheese again, if I had that, some tomato, romaine lettuce, and Italian marinated chicken it would be a very good day

Right now it's still a good 30 minutes until Brando get's off work, and I am super hungry >:I but he's got to stop and buy the food for dinners. BUT HUNGRY.
