Contact Lens Recommendation Thread: what should I get & where do I get it?
I noticed lately that there have been a number of requests for help finding and choosing contact lenses. I thought it might be nice to have one thread where we can ask for suggestions and give/get recommendations, which can yield more results per inquiry as opposed to having many individual threads that all too often slide off the first page without much ado.
As new suggestions come up, I will add them to the list below. As always, see your optometrist first before considering contact lenses so that at minimum you know what your base curve and diameter are and what lenses you particularly should buy/avoid. Whether you need ideas to start with, are trying to decide between different lenses that you have found, or love making recommendations and want to share your experiences and input, I think this thread can serve as a solid resource for all parties involved and be fun. Please join in the discussion! Please kindly post links and pics if you are trying to get lenses for a specific character or are trying to decide what/where to buy!

I'm doing Asuka Langley [uniform], and i cant seem to decide if i want to go with a cartoon look, or a more realistic. I know theres a color difference too, but the cartoon looking ones are just so neat. haha
Heres the cartoon --> http://www.**BANNED URL**.com/f63-pa...ses-p-208.html Here's the realistic -->http://www.**BANNED URL**.com/f20-pa...ses-p-195.html |

Well, I am currently working on Soul Eater Evans and would like any suggestions to buy a pair of contacts to match his eye color. I don't have a prescription to wear glasses or anything but I would like a good suggestion of a place to get a pair that will not harm my eye sight in any way.

I hate to sound like a complete noob, but I would assume going to an eye doctor would get me said measurements?

You certainly do not have to tell them you want crazy colored lenses nor do you have to buy lenses through their office. I only mentioned the initial lens fitting so you know what to buy from that point on and avoid horrible problems people can have if they wear lenses that do not fit well.

You mentioned about going to an eye doctor to get a fitted. I plan on doing that (I made a few phone calls and have an appointment set up) but I imagine I would be paying a lot more if I ended up buying the colored contacts through the eye doctor right?
I guess one fear I have is since I am only going to wear the contacts one or 2 days out of a con weekend that maybe I should get good quality contacts. I don't want to damage my eyes. >.< Do the websites you suggest sell quality lens? Only reason I ask is the price on the lens seem very affordable. |

Disposable lenses are what i used for Enma-Ai. they were cheap and one size fits all pretty much. ^^

The top sites most eye doctors tend to recommend: 1800 Contacts Coastal Contacts Vision Direct There are loads of other stores that are reliable and sell safe products like: Cosplay Lab & Vamp Fangs There are many other places that people have shopped listed in the first post of the FAQ. Hope this helps!

To add to your list of color and design contacts, I saw a nice pair of gold contacts by i.Fairy - Hanabi Yellow (0.00 to -8.50). Available here.

No. One size does not fit all. That's why lenses come in different sizes.
For my Acuvue 2 color contacts, I found them cheapest at Walgreens.com, plus they offered free shipping (don't know if they still have the free shipping or not).

Ugh. Honestly, I would say find a trusty place to buy your contacts online. :x For my birthday my mum is buying me turquoise contact lenses from the optometrists and a HMO Miku Nendoroid (yay ^w^)
And we're being charged $120 for a month and a half's worth. :l We're using Freshlook Colorblends (which I like because they're not too showy yet they're noticeable so I can wear them to school... actually they called us, they're in today) and we're trading the previous lenses we ordered from them for the Colorblends since the ones we ordered didn't show up. Now see, I looked up the price online. $52 a box. :l Half price. ...Nice work, stupid optometrist. My old one was like this too >.<;;
