First time sewing a costume

Because I have no idea how to sew fancy stuff, I've just bought my costumes. After months of begging my mom to let me take classes for it, she talked to her friend and she agreed to teach me along with her daughter (who is also into cosplay)the goal of the class is to be able to make things for cosplays. Does anyone have any ideas for easy but still awesome cosplays to make? And also if you have good tutorials for them?

What do you mean by awesome, it's a vague word? A simple design that looks really cool to one person may be super boring to the next. Could you be more specific in what you'd like in your cosplay? (Fandom, style, etc.)

Well Im basically just looking for a good beginner outfit that's not too boringish.. idk... I can't think of a good word to explain it XD
I like soo many animes including the Fate series, deadman wonderland, legend of the legendary heros, sailor moon, madoka magica, sao, etc. I'm also slightly obbsessed with fire emblem XD I was thinking maybe a female soren would be nice but the makeup might be a bit too challenging

What about Aries from Fairy Tail? She's adorable and her outfit doesn't look too difficult!

Aries Picture! (Obviously the one with the horns! :P)

Since it sounds like this is your first sewing experience at all, you're probably better off starting with something you can find an exact (or really close to exact) pattern for. Pattern modification can still be tricky even for people who have been sewing for ages, so if you can focus on just sticking to the instructions for the first go-round, you'll save yourself a lot of headache!

Soren's outfit it at least pretty loose-fitting, so you would have some give on the lower part of the tunic and sleeves. The top, however, is a little tighter (would require some tailoring), and the detail work is definitely going to take time no matter which way you approach it.

Since you mentioned Sailor Moon, maybe one of the girls' school uniforms? There are definitely patterns and tutorials out there for those specifically!

Thanks so much! I do really like aries, but I'm only about 50 episodes into fairytail... I really wanna cosplay someone from fire emblem because it's my favorite game... but maybe I should wait till I'm more experienced.

Marisa's outfit from Fire Emblem is not too hard. You can probably use this pattern to make it. Hope this helps!

Edit: The link doesn't seem to work, but it's simplicity's 6261 Misses' Dress with Neckline Variations.
