Hey guys! I'm in the process of making Madoka's hair bows, but I'm not sure if the size is okay. What do you guys think?

Long time no see, cos'ers!!
Hey all!~ (Do I always start my posts that way?...I think I do OwO;;; ANYWAY)
I'm just about done with Madoka. I put it down for a while because I couldn't figure out what was bothering me about it. A while later it dawned on me that it was the white skirt. It was much too long (I had made it a bit long on purpose, afraid of the petticoat hiking it up and flashing people), but it was still way too long with the petticoat on. It wasn't as poofy, or youthful as I would have liked...SO! I shortened the white skirt, which took unnecessary weight off of the petticoat and the skirt pooffed right up. It's my first costume and I have a lot to improve on, but I'm really proud of how it came out. All that's left is painting on the white emblems on the skirt once I get fabric paint, and I'm currently working on making her bow and arrow. Does anyone know how I could possibly rig it up so the flower on top opens when the bow is at full draw? OH! And I made a Kyubey purse. :3 Please check it out! http://www.acparadise.com/acp/display.php?c=53466 |

Hello, everyone!
I'm planning on doing three Puella Magi cosplays at Otakon next year, Mami, Madoka, and Homura. Everyone's posts have been very helpful and I've gotten some ideas on how my costumes will be constructed. Has anyone thought of using seven petals for Madoka's skirt, putting wire in the edges, or sewing the bias tape to the petals BEFORE sewing the petals together? I've also chosen some bits for Homura and Mami from links y'all have posted. http://www.zappos.com/anna-sui-turki...-sweater-tight For Homura's tights http://www.sockdreams.com/products/a...gerless-gloves http://www.sockdreams.com/products/b...tk?back=search For Mami's gloves and tights. I'm also thinking of getting a Kyuubey plush and a Mami teacup. http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=engli...e_display.html http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=engli...e_display.html Oh, and I can link to an awesome Grief Seed tutorial if anyone needs one!

That's the tutorial! She also has a great Soul Gem tutorial. I want to make my Soul Gems with a Floralyte III to have them do the blinking 'Witch nearby' thing.

I'm working on Madoka's bow and arrow. I'm currently training a half inch PVC pipe to bend into a bow shape, and have a fake rose for the top and real branch bits to add to it later on. That's no problem. My problem is the arrow. It seems to be made out of some creepy as hell pink energy, and I want to be obnoxiously accurate, so I want it to glow. I saw that the figma used translucent pink plastic, and I had a thought. For the body of the arrow, why not use a clear plastic tube and insert a strip of LED lights? But....how are they powered? And can I turn it on and off? I don't wanna burn through batteries too fast! Is there going to be some huge battery pack involved? Because it's just a little arrow. Also, according to my local con's weapons policy, all arrowheads must be soft. So where can I find translucent/semi translucent rubber to make the tip out of and will that even work? Has anyone else tried to do this, or even make the bow and arrow? @.@;;; I'm losing it here a little!!! |

@Suiseiseki
Wonderful job on the boots! c: @crimsion Thanks for the link to the tutorial! It'll definitely be extremely helpful. ----- Anyway, I've been working on Madoka today and I managed to get a great majority of the top done. First time making ruffles and it took a long time to hand gather all of them ; n; Almost done with the hair bows as well. http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3047860/ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3047863/ http://www.cosplay.com/photo/3047864/ The heart on the back is...pretty low, but I wanted to be able to wear a strapless bra without it showing at all.

I am itching to do Madoka. Sayaka is almost completely done. I don't count wigs when totaling things up. So I just need gloves, a sword and to finish up my cape.
My heart is telling me to do a ridiculously adorable Madoka. BTW I made some grief seeds, they're poorly done but I had fun, will add links later http://waltzqueen.deviantart.com/#/d496szq http://waltzqueen.deviantart.com/#/d4970lc http://waltzqueen.deviantart.com/#/d496svi

Hallo! I should have (or may have, it's been a while) come here while I was still building my Madoka costume, but I finished it and debuted at Kumoricon so here are some pics!
http://raiphin.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d493jm5 http://raiphin.deviantart.com/art/A-...2F4380544&qo=7 http://raiphin.deviantart.com/art/Wh...2F4380544&qo=1 bow action: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3715724...57627487545643 light-up bow action (plz to ignore dorkface): http://www.flickr.com/photos/3715724...57627487545643 the bow was made of pvc pipe, duct tape, 2 bottles of school glue, rub'n'buff and a lot of patience. The rose is made of Sukeru-kun transparent clay petal by petal >_< and glued to a coast guard quality flashlight so it SHOWS UP in pictures. The bow string is EL wire, the arrow is in-process and a pink knitting needle until I think of something better. the shoes aren't canon, but I've got large hard-to-fit feet and a very low tolerance for foot pain. would love feedback or to answer questions about what I did, there's a half dozen things I'd like to fix already but I'm pretty happy with how it came out overall.

1) I looooove your skirt! :'D
2) Your bow is amazing. I love that you took the time to make it glow. One thing you should probably try to fix (if possible) is the bow string. It might just be the low light exposure that makes it look like that, but it doesn't look straight to me.

The bow string doesn't looks straight because of the fact that the bow is moderately flexible and the string is not(in addition to EL wire not liking to be straight anyway), so I'd been trying to make it straighter by pulling it tight when I could, but still working out literal and non-literal kinks~
