for cowboy boots, it would probably be relatively simple to convert an ordinary pair of rubber rain boots, especially since if they need to have a different shape you can just cut away the areas you don't need and cover them over.

Darn it. After talking with my friend she convinced me it might be possible to put together a normal Kyoka cosplay for AnimeNext. And sadly I agree with her. XD. It looks simple enough although I don't know if I'll be able to find a good cheap wig for her...>_>

I finally have time to work on Madoka again because spring break just started. I'm almost done with the top, just ran out of red thread to attach the ribbon with and I'm afraid to start on the circle skirt. Gonna try to get the costume done by the end of the week though.

I've switched over to Sayaka, as Kyouko's budget was getting a bit out of hand for me right now. I've decided to just stick to her school uniform for now, and then make her Puella Magi outfit later if I get a job. @.@

I got my 2 "toy" riffles in the mail for Mami. The are sickly realistic with a wood body and metal hardware. I have to mod them because they are very heavy in there current state (hollow out the wood body) then start to add the details.

The only down side is that the barrel is smaller than her's but I can live with that. It's not so much that I can't replace it but I like the base they use that matches the wood body width. I'm thankful the US are still historical firearm fanatics.

I have the patterns, wig in the mail, and boots commissioned (ended up cheaper the buying a pair, then creating a boot cover). I have resin and modeling silicon putty to make her flower hair pin.

I won't start anything on the costume till after May but it nice to have so much ready and planned out.



My question however is: Should I do the in Anime Riffle or the Artbook Riffle. Just to confuse the crap out of me, both are official versions of the riffle and completely different.

Question two: Mami corset, I want to make as a really corset with eyelets in the back but I'm concerned that people would nitpick that detail. >_<

I think it would look wonderful and add realism and a personnal touch to your Mami I would do it all the way! can't wait to see the costume finish (I think you'll wear it at Otakuthon?)

If I had time I would like to do a Kyoko, her costume is especially gorgeous on the cosplayers family pictures you post

I'm planing for Otakuthon but still need to figure out hotel and going there. ^_^ You would make a lovely Kyoko Geb_Geb. I feel like her and Sayaka won't get a much love.


The smallest egg on the market is 60 mm in length. The Dollarama has coloured clear eggs with hair ties in them that can work as a base (There's 6 of them in blue, purple, pink, green, yellow, and orange in a white net bag). I got them as backups ($1) but got a 60mm after sphere one that I want to use glass paint on to match here flower gem. ^_^

I'm hoping to make it light up as well if I figure out how to frost finish the paint.

These look great. All I could find and my mom stash (daycare teacher) where large solid colour eggs or pearlized one which were too shinny initially.

I'm probably gonna head out to hunt for clear easter eggs for soul gems too. Think the glowing Navi tutorial would work for frosting/lighting up the easter eggs?

I'm having trouble making the heart cutout on the back of Madoka's shirt... I'm planning on wearing a corset under the costume so I'm afraid it'll show through... Also I ran out of lace. Bleh.

awww thank you she's really my fav of the show (and my hair are red! just not long enough lolll) I think Sayaka's the one who get the less love, that's sad she's really an interesting character and I love her relationship with Kyoko! Keep me update if you go to Otakuthon as Mami I'll try to do Kyoko, and thanks for the eggs suggestion

That's a wicked idea for the frosted effect (must steal dremel from home.)

Siyana for cut out like that are hard if you don't interface the fabric as well. It's one of those things you have to hand stitch will you lining in a ladder stitch. All the diamonds on B-Rabbit were done with that stitch so the the would not be visible.
The a seam allowance, treat it like your sewing a sleeve but cutting line into the fabric to expand the circumference of the outside measurement. Reason for doing it is so that the seam allowance can fold in.

For the Mami cosplayers looking for yellow contacts, the EOS Dollyeye Brown would work really well imo. It's a mustard yellow even on dark brown eyes and comes in prescription.
