Hi! Newbie here. :)

Hi, I'm new here! I've been wanting to make a Witch costume for quite a while, and I have a pretty good idea of what I'd like to do. Unfortunately, there are a handful of things I'm unsure about, as well. I have somewhat sensitive skin, and I'm not sure what type of makeup I should use as a base. I'm a bit short on funding, so sadly, I'm unable to afford a lot of the big-name theatrical makeup like Ben Nye. :C I'm also a stickler for detail, and I've been driving myself nuts trying to find something to use for her ripped up tank top.

I'm also thinking of having my boyfriend accompany me on my zombie adventures as a Hunter, and I'm not entirely sure how I could do the gouged out eyes. I've been thinking of using tissue paper as a base, and then layering ammonia-free liquid latex over it. I'll put a few small holes in both, so that way he'll still be able to see, too, though I'm not sure how well this would work.

Any other suggestions or tips would be appreciated as well. Thank you! C:

Hey, newbie. welcome to the l4d cosplay corner. Now I cannot comment on the witch, since being a woman is something I personally don't have experience in. The hunter I think I can comment though.

if you wanted pure accuracy, you would have to create a latex skin that would go over the eyes. personally that doesn't sound fun cause he would be blind at that point. even small holes wouldn't give him good vision and he would need assistance gettin around. I would do a thick blood makeup (like the ben nye stuff) and carefully apply it to the lids of his eyes. It would be sticky for him to blink, but for pictures all he would have to do is close his eyes and presto!

you could also do a pure-red contact lens, so he can actually see, but even then that is still a bit of cash. Lastly, although accuracy is you aim, there is a reason why a lot of people don't know about that eye thing. just pose with the hood draped. easy-peasey and not expensive nor dangerous

Thanks for the advice! I also got curious and started hunting around on Google to see if I could find any sort of prosthetic that could work, and I ran across these:

http://www.halloween31.com/pages-pro...rosthetic.html

The back of it is mesh so that the wearer can still see, and I imagine with a little touching up, I could get these to look really nice. C: It may also be possible to try and make home-made ones too, though I'd have to do a little experimenting first.

Thanks again! C:

As for the Witch make-up: I personally use the Halloween cream make up. I have sensitive skin as well and it works like a charm. But like any base make up it need to be settled. So I use baby powder to set it and use hair spray to make it stay and not sweat/chip off. With that I use nonallergic black eye shadow to define the hallows of my eyes, nose, cheek bones, the tendons of the neck, collar bone, between the boobs, the area under the ribs (blended), and the hallows that connect the legs to the rest of the body.
I know some people use aqua color body paint, but you would need a lot. A find of mine had to use have a tube to cover her face and neck.

My first witch shirt before I made it was a ribbed tank top I picked up at walmart and tore it up.

If you have anymore questions about the Witch, feel free to ask me!

As for the hunter-
The tissue paper will melt if you put latex on it. you can get the mesh and use spirit gum to stick the circus over his eyes on the cheek bone and brow bone. From there, wet some toilet paper and press it against the edges and "blend it" so to say to make it look like torn skin. From there apply the liquid latex to hold the toilet paper on and on the mesh. Let it dry. Do the make up, make sure you hollow the nose area and the cheek bones with a slightly darker color (if you use the halloween make up/ use Gray as the skin color and the black eye shadow blended) once everything is done, and dried, start adding the detailing of the "man scape" the hunter has and dab the fake blood (made or bought) around the cheek bone side of the eye sockets and drip if you want and around the mouth.

Thank you very much, Seiten! Is there anywhere where you can get large quantities of cream makeup for a low price? I still have about 2 and a half tubes left over from Halloween, but to be safe, I'd like to stock up on some extra.

I've also recently ordered a wig for my costume, and if possible, I plan to buy parts for the claws next. I'll keep everyone posted once the wig arrives. C:

Argh, I should have updated this when I got the wig, but I forgot to!

I received my wig in the mail a few weeks back, and I really like it! However, I want it to get the same thinned out, icky look that the Witch's hair has. I have absolutely no experience with wigs, and I don't want to completely destroy it either. I plan to use this wig for future costumes as well, so any general styling tips are appreciated as well.

For my wig, I kept it the way it was and just used temp hair spray to give it the grimy look. Plus it is better to use and most commonly used with other Witches.
